View Full Version : Existing Customer, Upgrading Equipment?

I've had Dish Network for a little over 2 years now with the HD package. I believe I'm about 13 months in to a 18 month contract I signed about a year ago when I got the new ViP 211. I've never tried to call and haggle for an upgrade, so I'll ask you more experienced people.
As mentioned, I have a ViP 211 in my living room and a 625 DVR in my bedroom. I want to trade in the 211 for a ViP 622 DVR (or 722 if possible). I also want to trade in the 625 DVR for just a standard 311 for the bedroom.
So my question is, what's the best way to go about this? Are there any upgrade deals for us existing customers? Am I just going to have to eat the whole $200 for the 622? Any help or advice is appreciated.

Have you checked the Dish website?
Have you tried calling Dish an seeing what they offer?

Hit the web page and hit equipment upgrades and dish it up.
If it's the same as my offers (I'm about in the same boat) you will be offered one 622 for $149 for a $100 credit over multiple months for a net cost of $49 installed.
Keep in mind you need to either pay $20 a month for HD or a $6 no-hd fee in addition to the $6 rental + $6 DVR fee.

I have checked the website. The problem is that I don't see anything that addresses my particular situation and the only offers I see are for new customers. I came here first before calling because I've read several complaints on here that the CSR's usually don't know what they're talking about. So I wanted to be armed with some information before I call and the CSR tells me "no, you can't do that" when actually you can.
I'm just looking for some input from people that may have done a similar upgrade recently or know the current deals, if any, they have running for existing customers. Yes, I can easily call customer service, but again, it seems as though there's better than a 50/50 shot at getting an untrained monkey on the other end.
If you login to My Account at the website, you see what YOU are offered (not necessarily the same for each subscriber). Select Equip Info, then DISH'n It Up.

Ah, I wasn't looking in the right place. Thanks jrb and Bill.
See, that's all I was looking for, somebody to point me in the right direction.
The only thing on my account that is offered is Dish it up and it says it expired last year. Dish has the worst web site. They should let you do everything you need online but we always have to call and beg for stuff.

Jim, I agree. The website could stand to be a little more useful and intuitive.
Just as an update, the Dish'n It Up promotion is going on until Sept. 30 for existing customers. You can upgrade to the 622 for $50 (after rebate) or the 722 for $100.
I called and requested the 622 on Friday, but when the tech came on Sunday, he installed the 722. I'm not sure if it's just my dumb luck or if they're phasing out the 622. But on the phone, the CSR said I could choose between the two for the above prices, and I specifically said the 622, and as far as I can tell, that's all I've been charged for.

Can I ask this...
Is the 622 $149 with a $100 rebate so the 722 is $199 with a $100 rebate?
Thanks

P.S. I would think they will extend this or add another promotion. It's in Dish's best interests to get us to upgrade as made Mpeg2 boxes to Mpeg4 as possible as eventually they will have to just move to Mpeg4 to save all that space.

Yes, that is the deal.
Yes, that is the deal.
Thanks... the thought of calling India to ask that question was giving me nightmares :)
