my sd tv is very basic just one antenna in (like a hotel tv). I ordered a sd receiver with dvr. I assume I can hook up to this tv however, since the receiver is dual tuner will the installer only need the 1 coax coming out f my wall or will he need to run and set-up another coax for the second tuner? I hope this question makes enough sense to answer. i'm hoping no addition of a second tv outlet from my wall is needed.

two tuners come out of the wall into the reciever, you then have one cable from the reciever to the TV.

You'll need the 2nd line if you want to record one show while watching another, or record two things at the same time.

All makes sense. You can run the DVR with just 1 coax, but it will not let you record two things at once or watch live TV with something recording. You will be able to record one thing and watch something else already recorded.

I do suggest getting the second line, part of the fun is recording two things at one time. The installer will do that as part of the installation for free unless you want him to fish into the wall or go thru a crawlspace.

Cheers,
Tom

how will he do this....the satellite cords will come into house from basement I assume like e* did. do they typically drill a hole in floor from basement to ground level or is it typically easy to have it come up like the original one?

Usually thru the floor if carpeted, but if its easy to go up the same hole as the original wire, they might use that. Or charge $20 to go up the wall if its easy.

Tom

Depends on the installer. When he breaks out the trusty dewalt and you see drywall and carpet chunks flying. Just go sit in the other room and wait.

It will let you watch live TV and record THAT show at the same time as it only needs one tuner. A simpler explanation is that anything that requires the DVR to be tuned to two DIFFERENT channels at the same time won't work unless the unit has both tuners connected which, of course, requires two cables from the dish or multiswitch.
