Hello folks.

I currently have a HM-DSR100U (JVC D-VHS unit). There is an AC3 port on the back of the unit. For the life of me, I can not figure out what type of cable goes in there. It looks like optical but the optical cable I have which I use for my new DVD player, wont fit. Unless I have not tried hard enough.

Anyway, now I am interested in buying the PVR721 which I also see it has a digital sound (DD 5.1 and DTS) port in the back.

The question is, what type of port is that? Optical? Is it the same as the port in the JVC DVHS unit I have?

Thanks in advance folks.

Gabriel

I thought the JVC had the same optical port found on other devices, but I've never had one. The 721 does have a regular optical output. You won't get dts out of it because dts is not broadcast anywhere.

This may be a stupid question but did you take the protective cap off the end of the optical cable. I had this problem years ago when I first used an optical cable.

So are you saying that DTS is not broadcasted but Doly Digital is? Makes sense.

As for the port. No, it is not optical. I tried an optical cable and it wont fit.
