Not unsusual to skip new shows during the winter holiday schedule. Most shows will go into reruns in the next week or so.

But it doesn't sound like it is dead, yet. SciFi news reported. The series' two-hour pilot, "Serenity," which hasn't aired yet, will finally get special treatment in a full broadcast on Dec. 20.

Plus, they added "Whedon [also] wrote the episode, "Objects in Space," which will air in December as the show's 11th segment.

Articles go on to say that Fox has bought 2 more episodes, for a total of 15, and ordered scripts for another 6 beyond that. Seems Whedon has gotten much more active now that is under threat.

The new shows are bound to air at some point this winter. Perhaps waiting for Feb sweeps?

Don't put it beyond the suit's to do stupid things. Farscape cancellation comes to mind.

Based on what? It would be highly unusual for any network to save eps for Feb sweeps of a series that normally posted in the mid fours.

It has become standard operating procedure to air your top shows or movies during sweeps. So if it was up to NBC, they would air friends and ER every hour of primetime sweeps. It drove me crazy when "Sports Night" on ABC would disappear for 2 weeks in a row and they would air stuff Like Drew Carey show in its place during sweeps. The fact that they would skew the results soooo blatently by having a schedule air that wasn't the standard schedule never sat right with me. But the realization that a show that gets removed during Sweeps Week will probably not be back next year and may not make to finish of this year???

The futon critic (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/gofuton.cgi?action=home) is reporting it will go on hiatus after its December airings. Its time slot will be taken by Fastlane which is leaving Wednesday where That 70s Show and American Idol 2 will be.
