HR-20, both tuners look about the same in signal meter mode on all tp's. As an experiment, I moved the BBC converters to my distribution box to reduce the distance between the slimline and the BBC's to about 40 feet of cable from 80 feet. That did not improve signal strength at all. The 103(a) & 103(b) numbers were equivalent before and after.

Great experiment on the BBCs! I didn't expect any help, but it is a great confirmation of that theory.

Given how low your 103°(b) numbers are, I would call DIRECTV for a realignment as soon as possible or if you are so minded, realign the dish yourself using the installation videos: http://www.solidsignal.com/satellite/at9_install_videos.asp

Alignment is very doable, just takes patience and precision.

Cheers,
Tom

I have 00 on 1-3, and 17. 93-97 on the rest in Basling Ridge NJ (33 miles due West of Manhattan) . So what's with TP3?? I see a few other 00's on TP3 in LA, NC, and NH. Then good SS from lots of places some as close to me as Ewing NJ (20 miles) and Brooklyn (40 miles). Very puzzling pattern. At least TP17 has some definition.

EDIT--Looked around some in the other thread; seems as though TP3 has been on and off during the day. So...fuggedaboutit!

Is there anybody in Southern Arizona getting good signals on 103b? I have a hard time believing the dish is out of alignment if I'm getting 90s on all other satellites other than 103b. It would seem that if there was movement on the dish, it would negatively affect the other four sats that have a good signal.

Pacific coast, H20(0F14), self made 1m (39") dish. Didn't final tweak, so the numbers are mediocre.

EDIT. Weird thing but without a touch the dish, new FW 0x2024 make up the SS numbers way up !

If I understand "spotbeams" correctly, the same transponder could have a strong signal in several areas, but not much signal between them.

One spotbeam from transponder 17 could be aimed toward PA, and another could be aimed at Florida, with signals tapering off in between.

So we could be comparing different spotbeams altogether which, although interesting, wouldn't prove anything, would it?
