New Dish 6000 user .....problem

Hi --

I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem with their 6000. When viewing regular (non-HD) channels using the component video in, I get a ringing effect on some objects, and if there is a quick camera pan or lots of movement, it seems that bright colors become jumpy and unstable until the camera stops moving. If I go into SD mode and watch through composite video, this does not occur. Is this just an upconverting issue?

I would probably say yes. I recommend using SD mode for non-HD content. HDTVs do a much better upconverting SD content than the 6000 does.

Agree, component video res is much higher than SDTV can deliver so you will get effects. I switch back and fourth between S-Vid and component depending SD or HD source material.
