Well the 508 arrived (when he walked in the box said PVR508 so I was relieved) and was "Installed". I personally reattached the cables on my request and we sat there while he did the check switch, and it did the download and then he called up and deactivated the 301 (now in reserve) and activated on the 501. Not really his fault, just doing his job. We ended up talking about TVs, he wants to get a philips, I told him about my experience with their less expensive 27".

He was going to walk out with my 301, because he thought I was a "Renter". I told him, I paid for the unit out of my pocket (and before they came down in price). But the paperwork agreed with me, so the 301 stays.

Hardest part was getting my universal remote configured. Right now I have the 508 just mirroring what I record on the TiVo, but since there is alot I can fit now, I'll probably change it.

I have one question. The Lower Channels for my locals 2-69 are not showing up on the 508. Is that correct. Not a big deal, just got used to the 2-69 on my 301 and 4900.

The locals at there lower numbers will appear in a couple hours. It takes the receiver a few hours to "learn" them.

Consumer Reports rates Philips as the most reliable television among the popular television sets. GE was the worst. RCA was second to last in being worst. RCA and GE televisions are the same, at least a few that I have seen, must be made at the same place, because the menu's, and look of the television was the same on a GE that I have compared to an RCA that I had, in which the RCA went haywire, and when I went to take the tv back someone else told me they had a tv just like mine that blew up on them.

Thomson bought the right to the GE and RCA names at least insofar as consumer television sets are concerned. Theya re made in the same place.
