Hello all.

I am about to take over my grandparents house and will be needing a TV service. They currently have Cable, but they seem a little too high for me. So I am leaning toward Dish Network, mainly for the HD Channels, the free HD DVR, 6 months free HD, Monsters HD.

I have one HDTV in the family room and will most likely have 1 or 2 more TVs set up in the house. My question is, is there anyway to be able to use a splitter or something to send the sat signal to other tvs when I am not watching on the HDTV? Or possibly a way to watch both at the same time, different channels, without having to pay the extra $5 for a receiver? Sorry if this is totally newbish.

Yes and no. Depends upon how you want to watch TV.

If you want your HDTV to be able to view one program and the other two TV's to watch the same program, then yes you can do it. Get a ViP 622 or 722 and use it in Dual Mode. Feed the coax output from Tuner 2 to the cable TV connection. Track down the main splitter from the cable line and switch the cable from your Dish receiver to the incoming side of the splitter and then the outgoing side of the splitter to the two other TV's. You'll only have 1 remote for the 2 TV's, but it'll work.

If you want all three to be able to watch TV independently, then no. You'll have to pay at least one extra receiver fee.
