tv and remote function

I could swear it was okay after my install yesterday but tonight my d* remote will change volume on my tv but not turn the tv on and off. I tried re-entering the code but it did not appear to help. any thoughts?

Same thing happened to me with my LG tv. Remote would change volume but not turn tv on/off.

I went to Directv website in customer service for remotes, got a different code and then all functions including on/off worked properly. Just try other codes.

I can turn off the TV from the TV mode. But not when I put the mode back over to the far left setting for directv. In other words I cannot turn the tv and receiver off with one touch of the off button. I have to turn one thing off then move the mode button over and turn the other thing off. Am I perhaps doing something wrong myself?

Nope, many, many brand's codes don't map working commands to the TV ON & OFF keys, hitachi is one of them, sorry. It isn't a feature you can turn on or off, it works or it doesn't.

Thank-you for the reply Edmund. Is it worth trying the score of additional codes on the directv website? Or, since it is controlling the volume but not power am I just plain out of luck?

Any newer codes are just for the rc64 series of remotes, worthless to older models. There were 7 hitachi tv codes in the rc32 remotes, the rc64 remote manual lists 23 codes for hitachi now. I would suggest you upgrade your remote.
