I got a 64 off ebay, replaced my twin on my 500 with 2 duals ran all cables back to the basement and verified each hookup with a barrel connector to each of the duals on all SAT's 61.5 /110 /119 and work fine.

Install the swtich and do a check switch and it never sees the switch. I hooked the power inverter to a volt meter and get 29 DC comming out so I guess that is correct.

I guess the switch is bad, any troubleshooting tips?

The guy is nice and said he would swap it out if I need to....

Hi Ryan and welcome to DBSTalk! :hi:

Where is your power inserter located? Try moving it as close as you can to the switch and make absolutely sure that the cable between the power inserter and the switch is good.

Also make ABSOLUTELY SURE it's right way 'round. Your receiver won't take it well putting that 29 volts the wrong way ;)

I have the power inverter the correct way and less than 1 foot away from the swtich... I put a test cable on the end that would go to the receiver and it is passing the 29v through the other side.

I guy off ebay is sending me another one out today...

Make sure the power inserter is connected to output 1 of the SW64. Then check receiver to see if it still functions with barrel connection to 119 cable. You should do a check switch for this test. Reconnect 119 cable to the SW64. Then connect Receiver to output 2, 3 or 4 of the SW64 and check switch. Try each output of the SW64 to verify functionality or lack thereof.

I have the power inverter in the 1 position and have had tried the receiver in each port, it doesn't ever see the switch on the check switch let alone the signal.

It just says no switch detected.

I just can't see how a switch can go bad........

All of my LNB runs work fine with a barrel or SW21.

We just had to have our SW64 replaced. The original installer put it right up on the roof, in front of the Dishes, and since we're in Vegas, basically 120+ degrees in the summertime just cooked the poor thing.

I complained to DishNetwork that one transponder was underpowered, they sent a technician round, and our whole setup had to be reinstalled.... though this time the switch was put under the eaves, and beautifully attached to the outside wall of the house, protecting it from weather exposure. The tech said it was his second reinstall of the week.... yes, the other folks had also been victims of the original installer we had too.... and yes, it was also a dead SW64.

Fairly luckily for us, we had the DHP and it was all free. The other folks had to pay out.

Buy the $1.99 a month warranty Best protection for E system.

Yep the do fail by some transponders getting low signal strength. Mine did that in the nice warm dry basement cieling:(

I should receive my new...... well used switch from the seller today or tomorrow. Can I get the insurance on a used item or does it have to be professionally installed or from a dealer?

Absolutely you can get the $1.99 warrenty coverage for it - the coverage covers all of your satellite equipment no matter who you bought it from or had it installed.

I installed all of my equipment myself and all of my equipment is covered. Definitely worth the 2 bucks a month, IMO!

Wonder if I can "work the system" and get the coverage now and claim it?

Hey are you using a 721? It HAS to be connected to either one and two OR 3 and 4! any other combo will give you error city.

What is a 721? I have a 6000, 4900 and a cheapy receiver and none of them saw the switch.

Got a replacement switch and it fired up the first time. It was the switch and not the inverter/inserter.

Thanks for all the suggestions ........
