1. Sometimes when I am clicking the 30 second skip button, the picture kind of flutters or stutters. Could this be a problem of some kind?
2. With Sunday night football games running over into regular programming, later shows begin 15-30 minutes late. If I set up to record a program that starts at 8:00, the show may not actually begin until, say 8:23, but the UTV starts recording at 8:00 anyway. Then it shuts off at 10:00 and we keep losing the last 23 minutes of the show. Why can't Direct TV adjust for these late starts due to football games, political speeches, or whatever?
Is there anything I can do on my end, other than to set up to record the 10:00 news, just in case my "8:00" movie runs over into the news time slot?

answers:

1. I think it's normal cuz all 3 of mine do it ...think it's a hard drive adjustment going track to track.

2. Sadly the only option is to either manually adjust the record time or record the 10pm news LOL ... this is a technical issue that can't be easily resolved as the stations don't send any indicator that a computer could pick up when they change programs ... they could easily do that of course (such as sending a inaudible tone or something) but all the programmers hate you taping their programs and not watching em live anyway and have no interest in helping you timeshift.

sad but true

The only thing I can suggest is to adjust the end record time. I have had this problem myself and it is rather frustrating.

It happens with all PVR's (Dish PVR and D*Tivo), not just UTV. If the stations don't send the updated information to D* to send to the receivers, there isn't much D* can do about it. As far as D* knows, the data is current. I would adjust your end times on any show that follows a sporting event if you have the available tuners to do it.
