Nah, ESD doesn't lift pins off the PCB.

This is not the new design. Both of my 622s (purchased in April 06 w/ 921 upgrade) have this screw and bracket. My theory is that the bracket is a large part of the problem. The screw to the back of the box pulls up on the connector putting a great deal of stress on the surface mount...

I have some long cable runs and splits, so was using a powered splitter from Radio Shack. It made the signal worse. I then tried an amplifier with a switchable FM Trap. One channel (UHF 19) woud not lock unless the FM trap was enabled. With this configuration the amp brought up the signal...

In single mode the TV2 output is a copy of the TV1. To get correct aspect ratio you'll need to put the 622 into 4x3#2 mode (which will screw up the display on the widescreen TV). Some 16:9 tv's have a 4:3 mode which would correct this. On my Dish branded 34" I have to switch to the RCA port...

Again, this has been discussed it great detail at the other forum. The problem is not the soldering, it's the design. This is a surface mount connector. This type of connection CANNOT tolerate stress. If the solder points do not break, any stress will pull of the PADS (connection points) off...

Just cause wiggling doesn't make a difference doesn't mean it's not the connector. You should really reread all the threads. I tend to post more at the "other" forum because I'm turned off by the AVS censoring of links to other places (or I'd provide some links). This is a VERY common...

I like to 2x Dish's estimates of hardware release dates. So, if they are saying mid-year it pushes out to CES 2008. Sheesh, this is the same demo we saw last year.

Perhaps... But, once the box is out or warrenty... I can still do my own maintanence and repairs on a leased car. Just have to put it back to original condition before returning. I'll change my story if Dish decides to include maintanence on their leased boxes.

If only the HDD was the only issue. Pocket Dish just doesn't have the horsepower to deal with 1080 or 720p souce material. It's simply not within the capability of the internal scaler. Must be converted before going to the HDD (like real-time capture from SD source). Also, don't get too...

Been discussed many times. You're best bet will be to set the 16:9 flag after-the-fact using ifoedit on a PC: http://www.dbstalk.com/showpost.php?p=724975&postcount=17 http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=64185

It's dead dude. Call Dish and TRY to get a replacement. If they refuse, hire a tech who's VERY familiar with surface mount soldering (or live with component). Go read the existing threads. This has been discussed in painful detail.

Na, I've seen the problem twice. Lost two timers yesterday because the box was in this state (I turned on the TV after noticing the Red Light NOT on). This needs to be fixed ASAP. Mark, it the release still due this month?

(Denver) My problem is usually wet/heavy snow on the LNB arm until it piles high enough to cover the LNB. I'd have to heat the arm as well as the dish.

I'm glad you got it working. The learning curve here can be huge and it is difficult providing this level of support through message boards. Congradulations for sticking it out. Once you get recording working, the next big thing is understanding how 622 format selection effects the recorded...

4x3 #1: Is generally for hi-def 4:3 TVs. The 622 will send out an anamprphic image expecting the TV to create a letterbox. 4x3 #2: The 622 adds a letterbox to widescreen content for proper display on TVs that know nothing about widescreen. I doubt this setting will have much effect on the...

Those choices are a bit ODD. There is usually a way to select DTS but you also have a DTS Out setting under a different option (under surround & DTS Out). There is usually also a way to select the downmix for the analog outputs, but a DTS option doesn't make sense here. Since your receiver...

OK, since you are able to play (see and hear) a prerecorded DVD, your cables between the DVDR and the TV are good. DVDR setting are fine too. Keep this source selected on the TV. Don't worry about aspect ratio (yet). Let's first get a signal from the 622 to the DVDR to the TV you can see AND...

Sure, ultimately, RaeAnne will want to also connect digital audio from the DVDR to the AV receiver, but I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible. Coax from the 622 might help, but I'm not sure the audio problem isn't between the DVDR and the TV. Need to get pre-recorded DVDs working first...

If you are using the Colorstream input for the DVD Recorder you must also use the audio ports by the colorstream ports..... You shoud NOT be using the DTV audio ports unless you are ALSO using the DTV Video port. When you select colorstream, the TV is selecting both the colorstream Video AND...
