I'm a Primestar conversion since '98. I used to be a big D* fan. After enough programming price increases and the perpetually slow response of my HR-23, I'm now meh on D*. Retention gave me just enough in discounts to keep me jumping to a Hopper this year, but it was really close.
  2. DIRECTV General Discussion
5 years.. That probably means D* has fully depreciated them and they are worth nothing on the books?

And CNN HLN was a show that used to have reporters that reported actual newsworthy news...

Sweet! With a 4k channel, they could have a mix channel with 32 feeds! All the RSN's on 1 channel! (If by all, you mean the NY DMA ;) )

You can also use an IP based DirecTv Remote app (as long as your shared receiver has an Internet connection) instead of 2 DirecTv remotes or an IR repeater.

Droid phone or tablet? I only see a mention of a Droid phone app.

There was a program that let you play DVR content on your PC, it required above average CPU/GPU/Memory... So it never worked we'll for me. (Despite having an ATI graphics that are capable of playing BluRay) I thought I heard that was no longer supported, as now there is DirecTv...

I never had the horsepower to bother much with video transcoding, I run TVersity (expecting Microsoft software to conform to industry standards is as bad as a cable company DVR ;) ) as a media server on my 8 year old XP laptop, and never had trouble running picture slide shows with mp3 music in...

I don't check the Apps that frequently now a days, but my TV App experience went from spotty (disappearing after software updates..) to reliable once I realized I needed to change (firewall?) settings in my DSL modem, and not just my router. I had to check, but it looks like I turned off my...
  10. The Movies
From what I have read from big Disney fans. They wish Disney could take back the characters, but Universal has perpetual Florida theme park rights to those Marvel characters as long as Universal continues to market attractions based on those characters. There may or may not be additional...

Why not a Roku Several of my co-workers love theirs a lot more than the streaming apps in their TV's or BluRay players
  12. DIRECTV Connected Home
Sweet! It's a now option to have. I used to hope that my App Store update number meant a DirecTv update. I gave up all hope because all recent threads wondering about an iPhone app were never addressed by an expert wih a cryptic "soon" ;)
  13. DIRECTV Connected Home
Down far enough to be getting rain from Isaac right now. I'm happier with my DirecTv/iPhone experience right now. The Direct Remote app is free right now, and is much, much more responsive than my IR DirecTv remote
  14. DIRECTV Connected Home
Yes, I'm tired of DirecTv sending e-mails to my iPhone saying I can watch "Everywhere"
  15. DIRECTV Connected Home
It doesn't make any sense, but I'm guessing their messed-up application got worse on iOS 6 that developers now have. Anyhow, now that I have the Disney channel app, I think I would rather have access to ESPN (like some cable providers allow) than getting remote access to PPV (that I will never...
  16. DIRECTV Connected Home
Of course that would happen...everytime D* sends me an e-mail about Everywhere I falsely get my hopes up.
  17. DIRECTV Programming
If HLN had actual news 15 minutes each hour, it might actually be acceptable. But since I'm stuck with HLN on the cafeteria TVs, we spend lunch laughing at whatever odd non-news segments they come up with despite all of the real journalistic news stories happening around the world. We need a...
  18. DIRECTV General Discussion
What's really annoying is waking up at 3am thinking you will do mindless surfing and find that you are not paying for 24 hours of programming a day on DirecTv. (Or the programmers are ripping off DirecTv). Instead you find out you only get about 20 hours of programming and 4 hours of...
  19. DIRECTV General Discussion
It could be an optional tier of WH service. 1) Choose the faster, "cloud managed and connected" Whole Home DVR service(possibly with a smaller 7 day guide, etc to ensure faster processing) 2) Traditional self managed DVR (more internal features but slower )
  20. DIRECTV General Discussion
For all the integrated recording list functionality.. Why not make the DVR more "dumb"? Isn't most slowness related to finding shows? D* does a great job sending recording signals via Sat. Have your to-do list and scheduling all done online, then use apps to manage the "cloud" scheduling.
