Not bad with salsa... It seems Direct/ATT is trying to assist home theater enthusiasts with display ads similar to those we're often forced to watch at the local Bijou. Now you can spin up ten minutes of adverts for on demand programming before each movie.

With the new software (114b), when a program is played from the List, the rewind button returns the recording to the start for the first 15 seconds or so. What genius thought that was a good idea? Often, I'll want to go back 30 seconds, if I'm resuming a recording, to get the context of what...

I noticed the same. Static graphic gone from lower right corner. However, the location of the photo (Grand Canyon, Big Sur, etc.) is always in the lower left. As the words change with each slide is that enough protection from burn-in for us OLED owners? I think so, but I'm no expert. I doubt...

Using the signal meters in the receiver is difficult, but not impossible. Since you're only mounting it once, it would be worth trying. For me, the meter (slightly cheaper) was worth it because I need to set the dish frequently. The difficulty with the receiver's meters are they do not...

I do the same thing when I travel in my RV. You'll need a good meter (the simple ones do not work as well with HD and SWM). I've found the Tracker LIght to be easy to use and reliable. I bought mine through eBay, but it may not be as available now. Sat Pro has it...

I thought I'd read here that the HR-34 was not functioning with the AM-21. None of the OTA channels were sending a signal through the AM-21. Perhaps it is the OTA tuner. I don't have another to swap with it, although my two HR-20 series receivers with built-in OTA tuners are still working.

The DVR recognizes the OTA tuner during boot-up and shows "Satellite and Antenna" in the settings menu. In the antenna setup, I can put in my zip code and confirm I have no secondary market stations, but after loading the data, there is no indication that the OTA tuner is part of the system...

I've replaced my HR-34 with a refurbished HR-44. I've not been able to connect my AM-21 to the new DVR. In the antenna setup, after loading the guide information, the "edit channels" button is grayed out. Double-rebooting and resetting the AM-21 doesn't help. That's one problem. The other...

I received my second refurbished HR-44 yesterday. After activation, it was initially as slow as the first replacement in channel changing, and sometimes worse, taking over a minute to change some channels. I have an AM-21 OTA tuner that long ago quit working with my HR-34. The first HR-44...

    1) I forced a software download on the HR-44 after struggling with its "performance." There was no improvement afterwards. Perhaps it was a malfunctioning machine after a superficial refurbishment. I'll try again this Wednesday when the next HR-44 arrives. And maybe, it was the DECA, after...

I did that the first time. I'll at least finish "Homeland" before returning the receiver. Showtime surprisingly does not keep its series available "on demand" as HBO does. With 85% of the drive filled with recordings of movies I always meant to watch, but never did, there's way too much to...

I was relying on the receiver's wifi connection. No ethernet cable was attached. Directv is sending another HR-44, after reactivating my HR-34. I suspect the "refurb" was a magic wand passed over the receiver after the last dissatisfied customer returned it. I'm of two minds now. I'd like...

Wow! My refurbished HR-44 is a true POS!!! Channel changes take 15 to 20 seconds! It's as bad as my HR-34. Now, I'll try to reactivate the HR-34. At least I won't lose all my recordings. Although, the OCD part of me was looking forward to going cold turkey on movies I've not got around to...

I haven't visited this thread for several months and was unaware of Direct's new policy vis-a-vis the HR-34. This morning I called Directv about a failure with the LNB and/or the SWM-16. (That resulted in an unusual same-day service call which fixed the problems with a replacement of the LNB...

I set up the dish yesterday, using a new meter and new LNB. All readings on 101 were in the 90s, and on 99 and 103 the readings were in the 70s and 80s., Thanks for all the suggestions and comments. While all three components (dish, arm and LNB) could have been damaged, I'm glad it was...

I'll let you know how this sorts out. I've ordered a new meter, as I was unable to align the dish at home without one (perhaps I could have, but I didn't have the patience, while at the coast, the azimuth and level were already set before the dish went over). The meter should be here by...

I think so also. As I was adjusting the dish, the odd columns were showing strong signals while all the even columns registered zeroes. All but the second column finally registered some signal strength, but as you say, they are unacceptably low. The transponders on 99 and 103 look like they...

    Most of these numbers were in the high eighties to high nineties before the "fall." 1-8 89 0 84 47 86 50 85 49 9-16 88 0 86 41 92 47 89 42 17-24 94 0 92 52 95 40 95 42 25-32 94 0 92 0 95 56 87 59 That second column has remained all zeroes.

HR20-100 and HR20-700, both running in a SWM system in the RV. The tripod tipped forward. The LNB and its arm were the only parts in contact with the sandy ground where it had been standing. The arm does not appear damaged (bent) either. I've got a spare LNB at home and will swap it out in an...
  20. DIRECTV Installation/MDU Discussion
The LNB hit the ground when the tripod fell forward. The dish itself did not impact the ground. After slowly aiming the dish by half-turns of the dithering screws and checking the signal strength each time, I have zeroes in all 4 rows of the second column; transponders 2, 10, 18, and 26, along...
