    Grandfathered discounts are nice.

Either you've only been with dish for 2 years or they gave you something you wanted (discounts, equip. upgrades etc.) in exchange for a new 2 year commitment from you. Either way, your above statement, as it pertains to you, seems a bit contradictory.

Believe what you want, but I and countless others can confirm, what you believe regarding endless access to those recordings is 100% incorrect. Edit: Think about it this way. Most users know that if your receiver is not connected to power or the dish for a few weeks, the receiver will lose...

On a side note. Interesting that in your original post, you use the terms, "dish cheating me" and "not let dish screw me over" just because the 2 year offer you both agreed to has expired. Everyone knows that day will eventually come yet some are indignant when it does.

Just take $350 and flush it. It's not going to work out the way you're considering. Without an active DISH account, the recordings on a Hopper will be unwatchable far sooner than later.

So, if an HR24 hard drive or power supply fails, they just toss the whole receiver? I'm curious to know what the number of active HR24's today is compared to 2013 or '14. It just seems that they should have more than enough refurbs to replace defective ones.

They must be lagging badly in the refurbishment department. With the massive churn they've been experiencing, you'd think they'd have plenty of units available for redeployment.

To answer the op's original question. I've had both systems simultaneously for several years now. Both are tuned to optimal levels. In my experience, while both may lose signal for short periods during severe downpours, it's not unusual to lose Directv's HD channels long before, or even without...

Do each of the homes have a different address? If so, sharing an account would be against DirecTV's TOS.

    Funny guy you are.

DISH's lack of the RSN's you list is definitely a flaw if you live in those markets just like DTV's lack of Pac 12 is a flaw in many markets. DTV's lack (the last time I checked) of a stand alone NFL Redzone option in all markets is also a flaw.

You are free to change your programming as often as you like. If you make a change within 30 days of a previous change, a $5 service fee will be charged. As long as you maintain minimum programming requirements and don't put your account on pause, you will maintain your promotional new customer...

A wireless Joey carries the same $7 per mo fee that a wired Joey does. There is an upfront $50 fee for the wireless access point tho.

For those PTAT shows that you like to watch several episodes of in a single sitting, just set timers for them and save them for as long as you like. For those shows that you don't care to see, don't watch them. They will auto-delete after 8 days.
