They won't do this for you - ASK. When I lost locals in one of these games DISH came out and installed an antenna for me. ASK. You get to keep it later when you quit their service. It's a plus.

Huh? DISH is more expensive than Comcast. And yeah, its the way Comcast is pricing out the internet now, but when you total the two up, DISH is over by about $50 or more dollars, depending on the package. And for Comcast's price you get the RSNs. And yes, the RSN fee and broadcast tv fee...

DISH is just not competitive right now - even with the cable guys. Take off all the promos and go head to head on regular cost, cable beats DISH and you get your sports channels. It did not used to be this way.

Sling apparently came to a deal on NFL Network and Red Zone. I can't see NFL Network on DISH right now...two usually go in tandem.
  5. General DISH™ Discussion
Initially DISH did a good job at pushing customers to Sling. But DISH's programming issues mirror over at DISH. The same sports issues remain. I am looking strong and hard at Sling, and the AirTV devices for locals...but right now FUBO seems to be the best fit for me. Sling is lacking my RSN.

It's a lot fewer, yes. At one time DISH had almost 15M customers. Today it is about 11M across both DISH and Sling. Directv had 20M customers in 2014; today ATT has 18.4M across Directv, DirectvNow, ATT Now, ATT Uverse. A huge decrease across all the product lines. RSNs is a problem...

Bottom line is sports drive subscriptions. Without all the sports customers that's fewer eyeballs to spread all the fixed costs over. In time your costs will have to go up to serve far fewer customers.

You are right - for some of you - sure. Not everyone wants sports. But in order to run any operation you need eyeballs. Satellites are expensive. You have to find the right mix of customers, but have a lot of them. For example, I don't want all the fluff that goes with the sports. I am...

I would agree, but then I look at what Sling offers - a DISH company and its still lacking in sports. Again, no RSNs, no NFL Network. To the point where Sling is no longer even trying to be competitive. DISH does have the best DVR ever in the Hopper. But it's offerings just suck.

My latest commitment on a retention special is up. DISH is loosing channels right and left, mostly sports, but HBO is gone. NO RSNS, NO NFL Network, No Redzone, and more. What is the long term strategy here? I am not signing another 12 or 24 month commitment. Comcast is actually...

Yeah, the word is Youtube TV and FUBO have it, and DISH does not. DISH is loosing sports compared to its peers.....is this going to continue?
  12. General DISH™ Discussion
I am well out of original contract. Last year I got a $30 credit and that's coming to an end. Been a DISH customer for 7 years on this swing and 6 years the first time - after taking a time out for Directv for 4 years. I cringe at having to go through this all over again, and right now I...

agreed. But at 15 Mbps, if you really do get that speed - rather than something lower - you can stream - for a single TV, and that shuts you down on everything else, for sure. It's not a viable option. I resisted going back to Comcast for years - and stuck with DSL and the phone company - had...

This is not a new issue - its been around since the early 1980s when these original rules came into being. Second, it's been proposed over and over and goes no where....third, how do you police something like this - no takedowns, etc. Issue is this - cable/satellite import signals. Two...

Because Congress gets nice contributions from cable and media companies.

Resigned? You got something out of the deal....new equipment? Credits?
  17. General DISH™ Discussion
No disagreement Comcast plays both sides and lacks integrity on this and most issues.

Fox did not want the RSNs and unloaded them. The contracts were all coming up for renewal, and Fox knew they could not make money. Fox found a suitor in Disney, but Disney could not take them. Fox could have excluded them from the sale, but did not. Fox wanted out. It's not like Fox is...

If the RSNs come back it will be for baseball. If they are not back within a week of baseball opening games, they will not be coming back. Problem with RSNs is the model is out of whack. Team owners want more and more. The provider cannot make any money and is on the hook for guaranteed...

Doesn't NFL Network, in it's contract, say they will broadcast X number of games - and that is how they set the rates they charge? 98% of the time there is nothing to watch on NFL network, so I do not understand the rates they can charge. This whole thing is a mess.
