YTTV has 15 second skip forward and back and you can see where you're at before you hit "play". And I'm using the Fire Cube now and I just tell "Alexa - skip ahead 3 minutes" and boom - done.

For what it's worth, I much prefer MLB.TV on the MLB app to what I got on DirecTV.

    No caps with Verizon FiOS.

I am now 7 weeks into YTTV. My HS-17 was returned, and we haven’t missed D* once. Low price, better PQ, and a more intuitive user interface. My wife loves not having to clean up the DVR. No more dish, no more coax cabling. Bliss!

I use PhonePower (fantastic quality), and pay $18 per month - half of which are taxes. 911 worked perfectly the one time I had to use it. PS - Just checked on Ooma's site - and taxes are $8 per month in my zip code. PPS - Ooma "premium" is almost exactly the same price as PhonePower.

@sd72667 - well written. I originally had similar feelings about the guide, but not now. It took me a couple of weeks, but I now get the paradigm shift from the D* experience. Today, I almost never use the guide. Agree on the need to be easily display program info. But what surprised...

2 C61K 4k clients and one non 4k client. Shocked they don’t want the 4k clients returned

Just got the return request email today. They want the HS-17 but none of the 3 clients. Normal?

No - the masking tape could fall off anywhere in the chain - from the FedEx store to receiving at DirecTV to processing the return. Seems like a great plan to collect $$$ for unreturned equipment - "We never received that HS-17 or the masking tape fell off and we couldn't tell it was from you."

I’ll try CSR roulette tomorrow and see if I can get a return kit.

Notice how there's zero mention of equipment return. This is all I received.

2 weeks ago I canceled my 25+ year D* service. The end of my service finally ended today, so I started the process for equipment return. First of all, D* never asked for their equipment back - apparently we're supposed to know to ask (thanks to DBSTalk, I knew -Thanks). Now the amazing part...

I only watched during Cooperstown week. Oh well..

I have an AppleTV, but choose to use Roku (or anything else). First, I hate the AppleTV remote for YTTV viewing, but more importantly, the app port to AppleTV lags.

Update - I asked my wife how she's feeling about YTTV now - 20+ years with D* and three weeks with YTTV. She told me she loves it. Took a week to get used to not using channel numbers, but that resolved quickly. Our YTTV features we love: No need to delete "recorded" shows from the DVR...

YTTV is a 15 second skip and you see what you've scrolled to in a smallish pop-up window. Works much better than DirecTV's 30 second skip with no pop-up.

I don't care about subscription counts. All I care about is saving money and picture quality. People mentioned RSNs - in my case, YTTV has my RSN (NBC Sports Philly), but D* doesn't. Bally is apparently declaring bankruptcy, so the whole question on the survival of RSNs is now up in the...

@Todd2 Fire DirecTV and choose the alternative that works best for you. Your Walker will thank you.

After the end of the NFL season I called D* to cancel service. Call took 4 minutes and I was done mine until my disconnect on Feb 2. Subscribed to YTTY. my wife and I already have the YTTV design paradigm down. I prefer it now. But the biggest surprise was the picture quality. We both...

I just called to cancel service. Started in 1997. Call took about 5 minutes. Service ends on February 2 at which time I'll get my return instructions. I'll share info on what they want (I have an HS-17 and 3 clients, 2 of which are 4K capable)
