  1. TV Show Talk
I love this series and appreciate we get answers fairly quickly rather than them dragging out the entire season. Regarding the most recent episode, one thing jumped out at me and I'm hoping this is explained soon:
  2. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Having hands-on experience is so important and it's great that there have already been so many questions asked (and answered) by the team that has actually used the H44. Congratulations to the entire First Look team for another great first look!

The Samsung will show resolution info only for HDMI and component inputs as well as the TV input when DISPLAY or SELECT is pressed on the remote, but it doesn't show resolution info for native streaming apps like YouTube, Vudu, Netflix, etc. On the Roku and Samsung YouTube apps I found detail as...

I used 26 because that is the minimum number of tuners needed for 4 Genies plus 3 DVRs, and previously the other poster also mentioned a single SWM16.
  5. DIRECTV General Discussion
With two SWM16s, yes, you'd have the support for 26 tuners for 4 Genies and 3 DVRs, but none of us can say if you'd have to change any wiring. It all depends on how your current DVRs are wired, for example, how many splitters are in your system, how many DVRs are wired off one leg of your...

I prefer the "LIKE" button to seeing posts of "+1" for two reasons: - folks like me who subscribe to alerts to new posts, it eliminates seeing email with nothing but a "+1" in it. - clicking "LIKE" doesn't artificially pad post counts

It could but when I first got the TV I had people over all weekend and we we did multiple comparisons with multiple videos, and from then through today it's been consistent that from 9 feet back we could clearly distinguish a difference in picture quality and tell which video was played at 1080p...

I have no explanation for it. I shrug with you!
  9. DIRECTV General Discussion
YouTube supports multiple resolutions for this video, so my understanding is it sends the maximum that the device can handle. In this case, YouTube played the 1080p stream, while the native TV app played the 2160p stream.

Well, Tom is a very positive person, so if anyone would run into a limit for expressing positivity it's Tom!
  11. DIRECTV General Discussion
Steve, was the 4K TV actually outputting the same content as the 1080p, but in "4K" resolution? I was a little concerned, like you are, that I wouldn't be able to notice any difference from my viewing distance of about 9 feet from my 65" TV, but I did a test at home and with the same content at...

And on top of all that, he said this would be done in 2015. Looking forward to what's next. :)
  13. DIRECTV General Discussion
Obviously every company is going to have a budget for advertising, and in DIRECTV's case they surely have a budget for internal development as well. To think that any one posting in this thread recently knows the allocation between the two budgets is ludicrous.
  14. DIRECTV General Discussion
Not sure why you think that. There is one cable that runs from the One-Connect Box to the TV, and it would stay in the wall. When upgrading the customer simply swaps the prior-year One Connect Box with the new one.
  15. DIRECTV General Discussion
And that's exactly what I'm doing, using the Optical Out from the one-connect box to my Denon, and every time I turn on the TV it turns on the Denon to the TV optical input and the smart remote is controlling the AVR volume. I did see what you describe with the Receiver speaker option - it was...

Thinking aback on it, the only thing that pulled me out of the show for a moment was when Eobard told Barry he was from a 130 years in the future and future-Flash was his nemesis. For the life of me I couldn't think how that would be possible, as Barry would be long dead by then. I have no...
  17. TV Show Talk
PS, I think we are safe to discuss this episode without spoiler tags, since the thread title has the episode name and number and spoilers are implied, but I do appreciate spoiler tags used for information NOT presented in the episode.
  18. TV Show Talk
It was renewed, so you meant "Season Finale" in the thread title, right?!!!! I loved this episode and think Grant Gustin should be nominated for an Emmy; he broke my heart in at least three scenes. I didn't understand a couple of things but I'm confident it will be explained in Season 2...

My issue is that I can't figure out what input I'm supposed to put the AVR on to output the sound sent via ARC from the TV! I understand the logic of AVR except for that one small (key) piece! So I've given up..

I also have a 2015 Samsung (JS9500) and when I press select on the smart remote on the TV or HDMI inputs it will display a resolution in an info banner at the top of the screen, but I haven't figured out a way to see that resolution information while viewing Netflix, YouTube, or any other...
