Rich, How did you make out with the Roku and the 4K? I tried one and it was a disaster. It had horrible lip sync issues....could not be resolved on my Sammy 4k. I switched back to my Roku Stick...no lip sync problems at all viewing the same material. Returned next day, saved about $80.

I completely agree with your #3 for the vast majority of TV watchers. In most cases a SB will be adequate (for "typical" TV watchers). A SB with integrated Sub Woofer will handle a few more. Full HT for the fanatics (like me) in the "media" room. There is no incentive to put better speakers in...

You're not going to get "great sound" from a sound bar piggy backed on a TV...much better sound, yes. Great...not a chance. Sound bars sell because they make up for a terrible deficiency in TV's internal speakers. When the bar is set so low, it's quite easy to demonstrate improvement....to the...

Rich, you are actually making the point I was: Relatively speaking (in terms of cubic inches of available volume) and size of the drivers (speakers), there is a Gigantic difference in what is physically available in a thin tv versus the sound bars. The thin TV just can't accommodate the 2 to 3...

I agree, they don't sound good (SB), BUT, they make a total difference in my wife being able to understand dialogue. That's why there's a sound bar on every TV in the house except the HT room. I'm not talking about relative quality, I'm talking about simply being able to understand...

I get the same HDR message from NF, also with 4K Blu-Ray. Can't remember if I get it with AP or not.

My powered hdmi splitters to the basement and in the bedroom have worked perfectly for years. RF remote from basement controls the HR24 in media room just fine. Basement has treadmill and exercycle with a 40" HDTV in front of them. I got a 30' HDMI cable from Monoprice for 26 bucks. Combine...

Except for Mylar speakers (Like the Magna Pan/Magnaplanar), sound quality requires cubic feet and large (for a skinny tv) transducers. In the case of the magnaplanars, you need several square feet of surface area, much larger than most TVs, to get good sound. I haven't used TV sound in 30...

You are exactly correct, Rich. You and I were on the wrong side of a discussion about eyesight and I maintained there was a lot more going on in the "4K experience" than simply resolution and distance. You said the same thing from a show room eval. After I got mine, I confirmed your experience...

Iowa Apps come up, some have audio, many do not. The one showing LaBron James' turn-around 3 bank shot to win game, (with a magnificent pass from K. Love), had not audio, but at least I could see it.

Happens about every other week here, Rich.

My HR44-700 is doing EXACTLY the same thing...I couldn't figure out why my remote was requiring double presses to "activate it", and that has never been the case before. I checked the batteries and they are quite good. Then I had this thought: I wonder if there has been an update. Sure enough...

Since getting the 4K Sammy, I changed my HR44 to Native ON and I like the pix better. This will be my 1st SB in upconverted 4K from a 720p source. Curious how it's gonna look, as the lighting and cameras are quite a bit different for SB compared to other NFL games.

Restart the DVR, when the front panel goes dark, pull the power plug. Wait 30 seconds. Plug the AM21 into the DVR (if it was unplugged, otherwise continue) Plug the DVR back into power. This should let the DVR recognize the AM21 Go into the OTA setup, and start over (completely), so you can...

Bottom line: If you have to keep "fixing" this broken feature by rebooting or clearmybox, then it can't be relied on. I gave up...it is just too inconsistent with NBA League Pass. I now go to my team pages > team and and set the records manually every couple days.

While no integrated guide with D*, before I'd pay those kinds of prices, I would buy the Magnavox OTA HD DVR and use it, which is what I'll do if my two AM21s give out.

With all this effort to get a feature to work right and stay working right, I have found it much easier just: Go to My Teams > Team Pages Click on Cavs, Warriors and Knicks, select upcoming to record and check back every few daysI don't miss any recordings and it's no more stressing than...

For many years now the "release notes" had virtually nothing in them of consequence. That they have discontinued them is no loss.

What has happened: My Team: Cavaliers Look at Upcoming Games By Selecting Team Page I can see what games and what channels it is going to record. It does some on NBA League Pass and some on the RSN's (which I don't get) I let it go, hoping it will correct itself. Next day, I look...the RSN...

Hi Rich, My Teams doesn't work worth a darn for me. It is always recording channels I don't get (RSN) and skips the recordings on NBA League Pass. I have to go into MY Teams every few days, and look at all the available games, cancel the stupid recordings of channels I don't get, and tell it to...
