  1. DIRECTV General Discussion
Turns out, I was slightly mistaken. While my local was blacked out, it wasn't a Raycom station, it is owned by Dispatch, and is back on the air, so I'm good :) My brother, on the other hand, can't watch NBC due to this, so I gave him an invite to my slingbox as a work around until this is over.
  2. DIRECTV General Discussion
It was 2001. I remember because they broke into the games to announce we started bombing in Afghanistan, and they did a split screen with the game and news. I also remember getting upset because after about 5 minutes worth of coverage, at least on my local, they were basically reading from...
  3. DIRECTV General Discussion
They are saying ALL, which means ALL. Not almost all, or most, but all. If they don't honor that, then that will be a phone call ending with some kind of credit or me going to cable for the first time in over a decade. I don't call and complain over a lot of other stuff, but don't mess with my...
  4. DIRECTV General Discussion
Because one does not have one, nor does one feel like purchasing one. I emailed them, and this is the response I got (emphasis added by me): That last sentence seems to me like they are saying I will be able to see the game.
  5. DIRECTV General Discussion
Oh, there's ALWAYS a work around. It's still crap, any way you slice it. The whole point of Sunday Ticket is to get access to all the games. If I don't have access to all the games, it is violating the spirit if not the letter of the contract.
  6. DIRECTV General Discussion
That's the other side to my argument. In markets where, for example, Time Warner doesn't carry NFLN, if your local team is on NFLN, the NFL grants rights to a local broadcaster to show that feed., even if it's available on other carriers. If I'm "In Market" and it's not on the provider I have...
  7. DIRECTV General Discussion
That's a bit of a mis-description. Out of market would imply that only in market teams would be blacked out, not games that are shown locally. In Columbus, we're 'in market' for Cleveland and Cincy for everything, but if the Bungles aren't broadcast locally, I can still watch them. If the...
  8. DIRECTV General Discussion
That's some kind of BS. I understand having to watch the local feed when it's there, but when it's not there, why black it out on Sunday Ticket?
  9. DIRECTV General Discussion
So now that Raycom and DirecTV have reached an impasse, if it drags out, I need to know how this effects Sunday Ticket blackouts. Here in Columbus, we lost channel 10, which is CBS. I pay for Sunday Ticket, and while most of the games I'd watch are local broadcast, enough are not that I pay for...
  10. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Since you asked :) Basement: WOW Cable internet feeds into Netgrear WNDR4000 Netgear has one long line feed to the living room, one longer line to the office on 2nd floor, runs wifi, has one line to the router in the adjacent finished half of the basement, and on line to the R16 on the floor...
  11. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Swapped out the router I was using with the HR20 and it stopped stuttering, so I ordered a brand new one to arrive this week. Not sure about the Slingbox making it reboot, however.
  12. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Good to know about swapping the HDD and cloning. I can live without what I've got, but that's still worth keeping in the back of my head. Network stuttering I can understand with the new networking stuff involved. It happens with or without the slingbox. The reboot with Slingbox is what really...
  13. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
I have an old HR20, like from when we had to play CSR Roulette to get one. I think it's 8 years old or something, I seem to think we got it around when my daughter was born, but I don't make any promises. It's an old, trusted friend, and spent a few years on the CE list. It still runs like a...
  14. DIRECTV Connected Home
They are converted to sd, and you can't stream outside of the home, you have to download it to your device first. It will work with an HR20 or later model receiver.
  15. DIRECTV Connected Home
That's because they can't use it due to the device and roto restrictions. I doubt it would be much higher if they could actually use it, given the downrezing
  16. DIRECTV Connected Home
Why did HBO Go and netflix work on rooted devices? Amazon locks you into Kindle for non-copyright issues, like Apple with iTunes, but I suspect that Hulu and Redbox also work on rooted devices. On the bright side, at least it's free (with the purchase of their hardware) unlike Slingbox which...

The iPad video on the iPad was definitely better than the video on the Android. The Android version is not good enough for me on the deck, but will work for downloading Thomas the Train and Sesame Street for the 2 year old to watch at Red Robin. He isn't as picky as me. The iPad video to the TV...
  18. DIRECTV Connected Home
Yes, but if it is currently recording, you don't get fast forward/rewind Traded in the iPad for a Sony NSZ-GS7 and Slingbox, and it's SD to HD. Realizing that part of that is the iPad for their SOC Lightning HDMI, but it's just as subpar on my Nexus now, too. Not just streaming, but the...
  19. DIRECTV Connected Home
Can you hack it to improve the video quality too?
  20. DIRECTV Connected Home
Save your money. It doesn't work with root, most devices are incompatible, and the video looks bad even if you run a stock device that IS supported. At this point, if I didn't already have the Nomad, they couldn't pay me $50 to take it. I'll be looking to sell or return mine soon.
