The signal level on all 8.1, 8.2, and 8.4 channels is good (~80%) and stable whether connected to my TV or my AM-21. This channel-loss issue only pertains to the 8.4 subchannel through the HR-54/AM-21. My antenna is connected directly to my AM-21 in my normal setup.

Just curious.. when YES streams Yankees games (such as via their app), are they in HD (1920x1080) or in 4k format? I can't get their streamed games, only the YES feed via DirecTV via MLB EI.

Too bad NHL CI subs no longer can stream games (like we used to do with NHL.tv) since ESPN took over NHL streaming.

I have an HR54 with an AM21 connected. One of my local OTA stations has a StoryTV subchannel on 8.4. There is no guide data for this channel and only says "regular programming" or something like that and I need to use the channel's website to know what's on. I do manual recordings on occasional...

Is NHL.tv still included for D* subs for NHL Center Ice in 2023-2024 like in past years? I've searched for this answer on the web and find very little.. most say 'yes, NHL Network is included if you are an NHL CI sub', but I am asking about the NHL.TV game streaming as part of NHL CI.

You may want to check the coax connections at the LNB and your other devices. Sometimes water can get in and this can be a cause of random pixellation. Sometimes even a small piece of braid/shielding can get into the coax connector and randomly play havoc. A quick check and blowing out these...

You may not be aware that FCC Order 98-273 prohibits HOAs, landlords, etc. from prohibiting the installation of satellite (DBS) dishes on their properties. This law is not new.

Yes, I remember back in 1998 how inexpensive DirecTV was compared to today.

I have an HR54 connected to 1 TV and a C61K connected to another TV. Whomever told you that has no clue. Too bad D* designed the HR54 to not be able to output a 4k signal so I can only watch 4K content on the TV connected to the C61K.
  10. Internet Streaming Services
If sports leagues want viewers and fans, they need to make accessing the games easier which means more ways to watch, not just 1 way to watch that changes every few days (Monday on MLB EI, Tuesday on Apple+, Wed. on Prime, Thurs. on ESPN+, etc.). Why not make the games accessible on MLB EI, AND...

Any idea why DirecTV is blacking out the NHL Network feeds of pre-season games for non-local games? Multiple times, NHL Network has had pre-season NHL games (Rangers against the Bruins and the Islanders) but they are blacked out. They are also blacked out on MSG and MSGSN. Why are these...

I see it now.. thank you. I looked all over and couldn't remember where that feature was. It's been several years since I needed to use that feature.

Years ago, with older IRDs, I recall that there was a manual record option. It let you pick a start time, end time, date, and channel. This was helpful to record programs that D* didn't have guide data for, such as some of the extra OTA channels. One of my OTA locals airs Story TV (a network...

Yep, I saw the lobe graphs for WLHY and that's how I know I am located at a low power lobe at about 10 degrees az. of their site in Red Lion.
  15. Local Reception
Yeah, it doesn't appear that there is much more that I can do. Since I get the other major Philly stations at ~90+ signal levels and 29.x at 0, my options are very few. I did also try my AM-21 and a few other TVs since each unit has a slightly different ATSC tuner. I will try to build a shield...

I am sure that D* will never carry NBC Sports Philly, even though Verizon FiOS carries it in the area. I am in NBC Sports Philly's territory and D* already charges us close to $10 for MASN, MASN, and NBC Sports DC. I don't like any of the Philly teams but sometimes get blacked out when my teams...

Looking at the updated Rabbit Ears info, it looks like WLHY now has a low power translator which transmits on channel 31 approx. 25 miles SW of me. WTXF transmits on channel 31 as well. I am located at approx. 10~15 degrees azimuth from WLHY's transmitter site in Red Lion (York County). I am...

I have my 8 bay UHF array aimed towards the tower farm west of Philly to receive the larger group of Philly stations that nearly all have their transmission sites located there. I would assume that the site in Allentown is likely a lower powered translator to serve that area? Did WTXF move from...
  19. Local Reception
I live near Lancaster and can't get WTXF (29.x) OTA. I can get the other major Philly UHF channels... 3, 10, 17, 57, etc. no problem (signal levels in the ~90s). I recall there was a station north of Lancaster that was transmitting on an adjacent RF channel that was supposed to move transmitter...

I've been a DTV subscriber since May 1998. Back then, there was DirecTV and USSB.. soon after (Dec. 1998), DTV bought USSB.
