I could not believe that DirecTv had added a channel for dogs. Anyway, the only time our little poodle looks at the tv is when a show has a dog barking in it. Then he starts barking. Otherwise, he's concerned with going outside whenever the wife goes out to smoke.

I enjoyed the Newsmix channel myself. Being able to switch among the channels was rather nice....being able to see which had commercials on them or news. Switching from one to another on my HR20-100 is time consuming process since the last software update. Why still display those two channels...

I did after calling DirecTV and all is well. Those two Hughes receivers are always on and never turned off so I guess it should be expected something could go wrong. Thanks for the reply!

On our two SD receivers, channel 296, Cartoon Network, now shows a message that states the channel is not ordered. My son said it was working fine yesterday, April 3. The SD feed shows up fine on our H100 receiver. Any idea as to what is going on?

I had the same thing happen to me with AT&T! No way on this earth will I ever...ever use them for anything! Even my nephew, who works for AT&T, is switching his cell phone service from them to Verizon. I would switch to Dish or go back to cable if DirecTV even mentioned anything like this.
  6. The Movies
Noticed it last night when the newer version of "The Day The Earth Stood Still" came on. Commercials for FX and other products. That just leaves TCM now....right?

We are on the last month of our 3 month's of free Showtime movie channels that was our 7 year loyalty gift. Last year it was 6 months.....and at our 5 year time period...it was 5 months. So stupid me figures 7 years is good for 7 months....wrong. Just as well, nothing much to watch on there...

I feel your frustration! I had the same thing happen with me and the evil corporation known as AT&T. I sent a Uverse modem back via USPS and they have never received it. This was back in Sept. AT&T had sent a USPS label in the original packaging just for this purpose. I did not get a receipt...

^^^^ This! I was wondering why you would go rent a cabin for the weekend and then spend Saturday watching football.

I won't leave...as the account is in my wife's name and she doesn't watch the channels that are affected. Only channel I would miss would be National Geographic. Either way, I won't lose sleep over it.

I had forgotten completely about that site until I read your post. Shows how much I worry about whatever the guy that runs the site says.

How true. We just got 3 months of Showtime for being a loyal customer since 04. Last year we go 6 free months of the HBO lineup for a loyalty gift. Oh well, it's free so I can't complain.

When we had DTV installed back in 04, the installer wanted to put it on the roof and there was a 3" pipe in the ground already where the old Primestar dish was located. I told it it would be easier to mount it there instead of climbing up on the roof. Plus, all the cables were there.....hardly...

I don't understand why so many come on here and announce their decision to leave DTV and go with another provider. Not that I post here much.....if I ever switched providers....I sure wouldn't come on here and announce it. Good luck to the OP anyway!

I ignore those channels as well. I would be happy if channels I don't get....like some movie channels that I don't subscribe to....wouldn't show up in the "channels I get" option.

We don't lose power that often. The weather here has been pretty rough this morning and the power just goes off for maybe half a second, enough to restart the receiver. But I have always wondered where a subscriber's programming data is stored. So if the guide data comes downstream in the...
  17. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
I have lost power a few times this morning due to storms and each time, our H20-100 has to "acquire" guide data. So this got me thinking. Just where is the programming a subscriber receives, stored? Must not be in the receiver itself...right? Just where does the receiver download the data from?

We had 7" of snow here overnight and no service disruption. I checked signal levels and they were all down about 10 overall. I wiped the 3" of snow off the dish and they all came back up!

I remember the "glory" days of AMC and can actually remember about the time it started. The commercials were shown during the movie, not during the so called dead space between movies. To me, the channel started going down when they started the "Whitest Kids You Know" series. Yes....it's...

Yeah.....I forgot about FOX movie channel. But IFC was a pretty good channel until they started all the other shows besides the repeated movies. Should have known this would happen with AMC involved!
