I just read this thread all at once so you might not remember that you changed the coax. That old coax may have been causing you some problems...just a guess

You can find the missing shows by going to the left of the playlist and choosing TV Shows, Movies, etc

I was trying to clarify the changes. I am not too concerned about how long they take. I actually think they improved the sorting of the episodes in a series and now it looks like they will be going back. I like that now the episodes sort with the newest episode at the bottom. So when I watch the...

Did they say they are going to change the season recorded playlist for a series to be newest first? This is one change that I actually like. I don't have to scroll to the bottom to play the shows chronologically.

Just never shut it off and you should be good to go.

I doubt that is true. It was probably denied because it was filled out incorrectly. That happened to me twice. When it was finally filled out correctly the CSR knew what the problem was and was positive I would get an HR44. It arrived 2 days later.

Good Luck. I have a feeling you are going to get an HR34. So far the only confirmed ways are getting the installer with an HR44 or HR54 or getting them to fill out the Specific Model Request. Most CSRs do not know it exists and it is complicated to fill out correctly.

Sweet. Was it a refurb or new?
  9. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Yeah, see above. Same experience and no refurb sticker. Plus it had the new electronics smell. But maybe we are in the minority and just got lucky. Either way, ditch that dreadful HR34. GET THEM TO FILL OUT THE SPECIFIC MODEL REQUEST CORRECTLY. Once that is complete you will get...

The new one still had the plastic covering the front panel and had no marks on it. It also came in different packaging. The refurbs looked pretty beat up.
  11. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Mine was brand new and another poster mentioned his was brand new. The HR34 receivers that they sent were refurbs. When they finally sent the HR44 it was brand new. Another poster posted a similar experience. I also came with a brand new HR44 remote.

Make sure they fill out the "Specific Receiver Request" form. Have a supervisor help. Once that is done correctly you will get a brand new HR44. Orders get cancelled because the form is not filled out correctly.

I tried it. Same result. No discretes. Thanks for the try.

Hey I recognize your name from JP1. Thanks for all the help over there. Here is the model number for the Insignia TV: NS-39E400NA14 I think I got the codes from the JP1 site. Here you go with EFC commands: HDMI 1: 00223 HDMI 2: 00227 HDMI 3: 00220 Discrete ON: 00201 Discrete OFF: 00197 I...

yeah, I use a decent remote, but the wife likes the HR44 remote.

What if I used HDMI control? Will that turn the TV on if it is off?
  17. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
It is not a TV issue. The standard remote that comes with a TV is just one signal, but the TV can accept separate signals for ON and OFF. Directv does also.
  18. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Yes the old remote worked properly with the Samsung. I did not have to slide the slider to use the TV off and on. I don't use it for the Insignia, but Insignia does have discrete ON and OFF. I use them with another remote.
  19. DIRECTV HD DVR/Receiver Discussion
Is there a way for the HR44 remote to send only ON or OFF signals to the TV? This is the way if worked with the old directv remotes. For example, if the TV is already on and I mash the ON button the TV will turn off. This is not the behavior with the old style remotes. If the TV was already...

Make sure they fill out the form correctly. They keep the CSRs in the dark about that form. Do not activate any HR34s. Is it just me or does the HR44 have better video processing? The picture seems to be clearer with the HR44.
