When choosing signal meters and pressing the dash key nothing happens. The same is true when selecting "info and test". If you then exit out a message appears saying "live TV is unavailable choose a recording from your playlist". The only way to restore normal service is to power down the...

I recall my old DVR's had a feature where you could delete a bunch of programs by clicking on them from a list of recorded programs. Does the Genie have such a feature or must you delete recorded programs one at a time?

Yup, you guys are right-pressing the zero key DOES bring up the guide menu. I can't figure out why it didn't work the first time I tried it.

The zero key does nothing and yes you can jump ahead 12 hours. But my old R22 had a "jump to date and time" menu option when you pressed the yellow button while viewing the guide. The Genie instruction manual says this menu can be brought up by pressing the - (dash) key but that brings up the...

When I installed my Genie last week if I paused a show I'd get the bouncing DirecTV screen saver but after I connected my Genie to the internet the ads appeared when the show is paused. Apparently the ads come through the internet connection and not the satellite.

How to you bring up the "jump to date and time" menu when viewing the guide on a Genie? The manual says you just press the - (dash) key but that brings up the Smart Search screen on my Genie.

Nope. My "whole home" ID's have been changed to GENIE and KITCHEN on the respective device but the DirecTV.com guide still shows BEDROOM when I request to record a show. Not that I care, but my disconnected R22 still shows up and an option to record. It was disconnected when I upgraded to HD...

I recently got a new Genie DVR and I have 2 questions. 1. When displaying the Channel Guide there is a small white triangle in the same box as the channel name on some channels. What does the small white triangle mean? 2. When accessing the Guide on DirecTV.com and clicking on a show to be...

You think the "regional sports fee" is a ripoff? I read that Time-Warner cable is adding a "BROADCAST channel fee" of $2.25 because they have to pay so much to carry over-the-air channels!!! These are all gimicks designed by the creative gougers at subscription TV services to raise the price...

Sonic Tap/DMX transmits using mp3-320 files except for it's classical music channels which still run CD's. The satellite feed they send out directly to business customers is of the same quality but I have no idea what the "equivalent" bit rate is after DIrecTV runs it through their processors...

I hate XM. I finally told them to go jump in the lake when I got a new car with a built-in USB flashdrive MP3 player. It's UNBELIEVABLE how AWFUL XM sounds-even when compared to a 128K MP3 file! No stereo separation, ultra compression, obnoxious blabby DJ's, lousy limited playlist, etc...

The classical channels are actually still running CD's which is why they have the best quality and the widest dynamic range (and once in awhile a skipping CD which tips everyone off that they are still CD's)!!

According to my DIrecTV news, HBO and Cinemax will be free from January 10-13! The premiere shows they are pushing to try and get you to subscribe are "Girls" on HBO and "Banshee" on Cinemax... But you can also get your DVR tuned up to record some nice free movies too!!

I can record 6 shows at once. I don't have a Genie. I don't even have HD. :raspberry

I spotted that insert with my bill about a WHOLE WEEK of free HBO, Cinemax, and Starz. I don't think DTV has ever given a "free preview" this long or with this many competing premium channels. Last year, there was a free preview but it started the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week and ended late...

I would think that prior to "pulling the switch" on the MPG they will make every effort to contact every sub who still is being billed for an MPG box. Knowing how some people ignore email and even snail mail letters, I'm sure they will have CSR's phone the affected subs and let them know...

Well, that comment about "aren't getting all the freebies that new customers get" isn't exactly true. I am one of those ancient, obsolete customers with an old dish and SD service. And I was giving DirecTV a FORTUNE every month. I called and asked about my commitment (even though I knew I...

Well, I upgraded my old Hughes box utilizing the "MPG swap" offer and got a reconditioned D12 (but it works perfect, no charge of any kind, and no new commitment) Why did I do it well in advance of the MPG going away? I use this non-DVR receiver in my computer room for one reason-Sonic Tap...

It's interesting that DTV is "bringing back" the Family Package-a totally WORTHLESS waste of money IMHO (unless you have kids). I also noticed that the new DTV glossy flyers with the newspaper list Family as $24.95 for new subs but point out that you can't get a free Genie with that package. I...

That's pretty interesting. I love my two R15-300's and watch them a lot more than my R22. One of them was BRAND NEW when I got it in July 2007 and the other one was "refurbished" (but I don't think they did a thing to it). It is from 2005 including the HDD!!! I got it when it was 2 years old...
