  1. DIRECTV General Discussion
Clearly you cannot afford the service without being given a discount or "courtesy credit" as you call it. It is very definitely time to reconsider priorities and walk away.

I do not miss anything, about once a month I check to see if an update is available. If there is one I read the information on it to see what it does and then I let it proceed. The 2017 model hasn't had once since just after the pandemic began. The 2022 still gets them, but they are far apart.

I have two SONY 4K televisions one is a 2017 model and it hasn't gotten an update in the last 3 years, I know this because I have it setup NOT to update unless I tell it to. The other is a 2022 set and just last month it got an update for the first time since last November, again it is setup not...
  4. General DISH™ Discussion
I dropped DISH last year after the came out migrated my dish from WA to EA and thus began a continuous problem with weak signals that could not be solved even by two more tech visits and replacing every single component in the system. Other than a possible cell tower that my dish was pointed...

Perhaps now, but right after they rebranded I checked out the channel and all there seemed to be was another channel for dumping Discovery's stupid reality shows. I have not looked in since then.

Just one more Discovery Communications reinvention because there are NEVER enough reality television channels.

I have stated this before, to leave one provider for another over the loss of a channel or two, is ridiculous. More so when it is a news network where all of them are no longer news networks, but are political agenda channels. If you want to leave for financial considerations or you just no...

No longer having DISH, I now have my local cable companies bottom tier package, I can tell you that as for yesterday morning's coverage CNN had much better coverage than either FOX or MSNBC. I flipped back and forth during breaks and CNN hands down covered it better. The only time I watch any...

Just make sure a current carriage outage on DIRECT doesn't affect your DMA.

A Roku has apps for the main shopping sites.

FXX is geared to comedy, yet the top two comedy shows they have still play on FX, Archer and Louie. That makes me think that FOX is not that confident on the viewership on FXX and they want to be able to bilk the most out of ad rates.

I left in August and ended up OTA with a Roku, I happily found out that my Internet provider, local cable company, allows its customers to sign on to the EPIX app without even subscribing to the television service. I have since signed up for the television service and get all those apps you mention.

When I was with DISH, I checked into DIRECT's pricing and was shocked that even with a promo offer I would be paying $5 a month more with DIRECT and after 12 months it was crazy more, almost $30 a month more. I had a 922 using it on 2 sets with AT-200 package.
  15. The Movies
I had no plans to see it before based on trailers I had seen and those plans have NOT changed. I am not a fan of either actor and it just looks awful.

Another thing I was not too happy with when I was about to have it installed is that they instituted data caps for streaming. My cable company does not and even advertises they have no data caps. I do a great deal of streaming with Netflix.

With U it is entirely what your distance from their hub is to what sort of performance you can expect. I had a phone and DSL line and was interested in bundling the two thru U for better pricing and higher Internet speeds. I was not going to have the TV at the time as I had a DISH receiver (922)...

Who do not want a Hopper install do they have a choice?

Switching to DIRECT would not be beneficial. Any savings would be eaten up in the last 12 months of the contract agreement. In fact, at least in my case when I checked, it would have cost twice as much as I was then paying for DISH.
