  1. DIRECTV General Discussion
Watch alot of OTA for local news. I'm trying to make it convenient for the others in the house who aren't "technically inclined". They are used to having the channels in the guide and recordable.

Ok, that helps. I could use an H25 in the bedroom and schedule from it then if my wife tried scheduling a duplicate, she would get a message that it's already sceduled. That would solve the tuner availabilty. I do wish D* would get with it and have OTA ADD to the available tuner count. I'm not...
  3. DIRECTV General Discussion
Ok, I've been much more active here researching my imminent switch from Time Warner. I love the channel line up as it has more HD than both Dish and DirecTV, but the DVR is killing me. It's constantly glitching, missing recordings, and just plain awful.Time Warner has got to go. I've compared...

I think Dish would have had a winner if they didn't cripple the Hopper with only 3 tuners. I would go that route hands down, but a Whole Home DVR with 3 tuners is just plain stupid. They should have made a 6 tuner Hopper for large houses. I need 5 client boxes and with Hopper it would be...

I think they could easily keep the logos and add another half hour of time to the grid.

Any new features to speak of? Integration updates?

Came across it while searching images to comparing competing guides. It's a mock up of what the person would like to see I believe. It is a clean interface even with the logos added in this manner.

I did notice that just now as I was searching YouTube for video of the Genie! Thanks. Looking at the above pic, I can see where trying to cram more time in could jumble up the Guide. My Time Warner DVR shows the same time frame as in the picture but is 4:3 so all the titles are mashed together...

Came across this and love it. Very subtle with the logos, shows more channels as well. Only thing I'd like is slight more time in the grid and color coding of grid boxes for when a show is recording - IE: the grid box is red. They don't need to color grid boxes for categories. I just like the...

I can see the lack of a dual tuner on a single Hopper being an issue. This is one reason I prefer the Genie/HR-34 install and setup which allows for a dual tuner OTA add on. Problem is I prefer the Dish GUI, HD lineup, and Hopper features. Did you verify your software version is up to date? Keep...

That's a good suggestion, but I echo others that the Hoppers need to see each others EHD's. As long as they do that, the storage shouldn't ever be an issue. You could add a few terabytes more and be all set. It would still be nice to be able to organize as you see fit. This again is a place...

All good points and good discussion. I'm not against having Joeys fixed to a set of tuners on a single Hopper as long as I can see what's scheduled across the network. It would be ideal if they got the system smart enough to "find" available tuners based on need/schedule. As I weigh my options...

More time in the grid is mainly it and easier to read. Just personal opinion. I don't think the D* guide is bad, I just would like the option of logos. Again a simple toggle on/off would appease both sides.

    I concur

I think the Dish GUI is far more informative. However, I prefer to see the logos. This is another case of having a toggle on/off option in the menu for those that don't like them.
  16. Hopper System Support Forum
I get your point. If they do integration it should be a toggle on/off option. The DVR doesn't have a folder based list option? It would be easier to sort through that way. The Time Warner DVR has title only so each line is is populated. No folders. The discussion of options is good. Especially...

No, I believe you are right. That was the consenus I gathered. Rumors of that functionality float around as "coming down the road". Right now, that one of the biggest gripes I have with Time Warner Whole Home setup. I can only see what's recording or recorded from clients or multiple DVR's. To...

Not sure about that as a basic function. My understanding from my questioning here is that you can't at this time. That's the integration I speak of. Where a two Hopper install basically networks them into one DVR to the end user in which any connect Joey would take any available tuner as...

I see. This is the reason I'm hoping for better integration. While I could likely easily manage this, most in the family will find it an annoyance. Thanks to all for the info.

What if you have multiple Hoppers, each with their own OTA tuner? That should allow for streaming off any available tuner, right? My situation would call for 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys.
