I moved from Logic 7 decoding of my TV shows to a DTS neo:X /audessy 9.1 and wow, it is amazing. I use left and right wide channels mostly. Does a nice blend from the front LR channels to the side surround channels.

I am an installer and have not had to go out and trouble shoot a HR34 or a Genie in a very long time. Yay!

As an installer I think it sounds like your dish was not tightened down very well. This may have been a blessing. If the dish had been tightened down and the ladder whacked up against it, it would have been possible that the arm could have been damaged from the strike. As it was, there was...

We all know that the most important reporting from many of the American networks is of some part of the female anatomy getting exposed "accidentally" and the reaction of the FCC. I for one don't care to see Aljazeera's broadcasts but I would perhaps like to see Canadian or British news broadcasts.

Wouldn't it be something if Directv said to programmers that are wanting a through the roof rate hike, Well, if you want that much, we will turn on our commercial skipping technology for your channel.

I have used zip ties to stap it to the mount the tv is attached to. Often the IR signal from the remote is strong enough to work with the receiver even though it is behind the TV.

With Directv you have two options as I see them. I am an installer so here goes. First call you local authorized retailer and ask a lot of questions. You will get more personal service and you will understand the english that is spoken. Option 1. Get two DVRs. This WILL cost you extra up...

agreed. Just use the signal screen to find where to point the dish by entering your zip code. Then use the signal meter built into the receiver to get the dish aligned. Saves a ton of cash that way.

I install Directv and that job allows me to not join a gym. I mean, I climb up ladders several times a day. I crawl though tight crawl spaces doing my level best to get in get out as fast as possible. I climb stairs many times during the install going back and forth as the receivers activate...

You will loose all control of what the room mate does with your stuff, and wow, that could cost you so much money in the end. Stay in control of the account, and equipment. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, have you tenant call Direct or better yet a local directv retailer and he should be able to order the HR34 with no problem. A retailer installer like myself would be delighted to use the existing cabling to get the install done without placing any more coax on the house.

When you re install the coax with a new connector on them tighten them with a 7/16 inch wrench a 1/8 turn after the connector makes contact. This will help with keeping moisture out. You won't need the rubber boot if you do this.

Your story sounds very similar to the ones my customers could tell. I do installs for a local retailer. After I have completed the install they are amazed at how well it went compared to before with Dish or Directs installers. I am not saying they are bad guys or gals but having worked in...

The AM-21 will work with a HD non-DVR receiver. I have hooked two up that way on installs.

Installer here. Ok, have the internet in first. Then if that line is being used by cable modem and it is wireless, the installer could connect you with a wireless DECA. He could also install a second line to your office if you are having a receiver installed there. Now you said you had a...

As an installer myself, I am glad yours did a good job. Yes, the HD on Directv is really good. I have had several cable customers where I live comment on that when I tune in HD channels after activating.
