Wireless ONLY to clients? That would be idiotic. A lot of people, myself included, don't get very good coverage throughout their entire homes. I doubt they would make this "wireless ONLY" type of setup, but if it is... guess I'm out. Wired or nothing for me.

My biggest concern about d/l updates via the internet rather than the satellite is how often and how big, size wise, the update is. I'm guessing the updates aren't very big, considering they come over satellite fairly quick? If it's a gig or two once a month, no problem. If it's more, then we...

I tried the d/l for giggles. Took me 9 seconds with gig speed.

Wireless? I certainly hope there's an option for wired connections.

Since it doesn't matter... everything in 4k. :)

The only issue I had with the 44 was once or twice a week I had to reset with the red button when it would lock up in the guide. The lock ups started with bf4, or at least it was one heckuva coincidence. I ended up getting a truck rolled for it who happened to have a 54 on his truck. It's only...

If you're going to look towards the future with 4k, and the possibility of each 4k channel taking 2 tuners, then I say 16 tuners and 3/4 tb drive. That would give a family of 5 a tv with the ability of recording 3 more channels. If ATT decides to give us a real 4k genie and real 4k receivers...

This thread really doesn't need to be a quarterly ordeal, IMO... but... I'll skip the HD business and state for the record. Everything in 4k! lol :) Including all the Epix channels! ;)

From what Spectracal has stated, it sounds like yes. Though I'm not 100% sure on that one, which is partly why I'm going to wait a few months more just to make sure. I use Chad B as my calibrator, and as of yet I haven't shot him an e-mail to see if he has what's necessary to calibrate HDR...

Received my new Samsung KS8000 on Thursday. Really like the set. 4k & HDR shows look pretty impressive to me. Still will need to bring in a calibrator in a couple months to get everything set up properly. Now, just need to wait for AT&T/Directv to come out with new hardware that has 10+ tuners &...

Tried calling a couple of times asking for a HR54 to replace my HR44 due to 4k. New TV will be here Friday so I figured why not? Won't do the exchange without a new 2 year agreement. Which, ya.... I get it but nope. I'll wait until AT&T/Directv comes out with new equipment that doesn't require 2...

Exactly why myself and many others that I know won't upgrade to Directv 4k as long as the genie only has 5 tuners. It's not enough... Give us 10+ tuners and then a mini could be made to work. As it is now? Nope.

Just put down a deposit for a Samsung KS8000 49" tv from ABT. Won't be here in time for the Masters, but not really worried about that. I don't plan on getting the HR54, I'm waiting until Directv comes out with a new model that supports 4k in one box, and more than 5 tuners. Only got a 49" due...

I was going to purchase a 4k TV this year, but with all the confusion between HDR10, Dolby Vision & now talk about HDMI 2.1, I'm most likely going to wait until next year. Hopefully later this year AT&T releases a new genie (or equivalent) with 10+ tuners and not needing an extra box just to...

I certainly hope AT&T/Direct comes out with something new this year. Hopper 3 looks to be pretty incredible. I realize some of the features are disabled at the moment, but I would love to have the 16 tuners and the ability to get 4k without needing two boxes. :)

Oops. It's back up. Must've been a hiccup somewhere. :)

Anyone else just have ESPN, etc.. go down with a signal loss? In Iowa if that helps.

  19. General DISH™ Discussion
If it were me, I'd wait. The new Hopper 3 is supposedly going to be listed on the Dish sight next week. As much as I want 4k channels to be here right now, I don't think there will be many channels this year. ESPN, perhaps HBO and a few others. I'm guessing less than 10 and most likely 5...

Those were two of my biggest reasons to buy one now instead of waiting to get a 4k TV... getting rid of that hot SWim16 and a cleaner install.
