  1. DIRECTV General Discussion
I originally had Primestar in 96 and the directv acquired them sometime around 98, so have been with directv since other than a 2 year stint with dish. Yesterday was my last day of directv service. Feels really weird. We have Amazon, Hulu, and Disney+ so far and seems to be working...

So I called to cancel my service today and was told that they could not shut it off until the end of the billing cycle which would be 3 weeks from now. Is this something new or should I spin the customer service roulette wheel again tomorrow? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

I would be right there with you if not for a 2 year stint with Dish. Started with Primestar which was bought out by Directv.

That was my thought as well. The remodel is not that extensive in those areas, but doable. My wife likes to move stuff around a lot so I thought this might be a work around to have multiple jacks in each room. I am used to a little unreliability in the clients I have now as well. :) Thanks...

Thanks, I had heard they were buggy but that might be old news. I might need to go wireless on the other set anyway so that would nix the 2 4K feeds if I understand correctly. If the HS17 is working well now, that would be the way to go and just wait for wireless clients to come out and then...

Going to be calling D in the next few days to talk some new equipment and wanted some feedback here first.(TIA) I currently have an HR34(I know, right) and 2 ck31's. I have one 4K set and thinking about adding another. I might actually condense down to just the 2 4K sets but that would be...

Our DSL has recently been upgraded and we usually get between 15 to 20 Mbps. So far it hasn't buffered at all even with 4k. That is with Amazon and I haven't tried NF as of yet. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

Yes, you will have to do a 2 year commitment. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

Could have got 4k equipment for a new 2 year deal but didn't pull the trigger. One year later I am regretting that decision. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

The only problem I have had is sometimes changing from 720 to 1080 resolution the picture won't come up and I might have to hit the back button and retune the channel but that is very infrequent. I'm not familiar with the P series but I've had this set for a couple of years so I'm sure they...

I have a Vizio M series and I really like it. For those of you in the market for a new TV, get 4K if you can and you won't regret it. It doesn't really matter if you get 4K content yet, the 1080 content will still look way better than on a 1080 set.

Ok. full disclosure time. I know I said that I would never call and ask for discounts or threaten to quit. I was seriously going to switch to Dish. What I was going to get was the lowest rung of programing with the Hopper 3 and two joeys and HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, TMC, ect for three months...

Thanks, that's good to know. I don't have dtv 4k equipment yet. Could be better getting it over satellite as opposed to streaming. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

I cant see paying extra for 4K anytime soon. The difference between the up converting and actual 4K looks to be very small, at least to me.

I streamed some 4k off Amazon and it may have been a bit better than upscaled 1080 but didn't blow me away. I just wanted to check to see what it looked like and how much cap it would use. Was about 1.7 gigs for 20 minutes.

That is what I have been thinking. Originally it was supposed to be up and running by the end of last year and then by February this year. Still nothing. There are supposed trials going on but no info at all or even any advertising of this new service that I can find. This could be another...

Oh, I agree 100 %. I am sitting here with 300 kbps DSL so I know all too well the problems with that and satellite. The only good thing about my DSL is there is no cap. Of course I can't do to much with it but my point is If ATT sets the cap too low that I can't do much with it either I don't...

I find that very hard to believe. No it is not going to be in heavily populated areas but in areas where they have excess data. Narrowing it down to a few people per square mile is not going to be worth the trouble. This will be in areas of several thousand people but maybe not tens of...

I wouldn't say there are no other options. DSL, while slow at least generally has no cap and is priced lower. Satellite is faster than DSL but generally has a low cap. If wireless broadband is capped in such a way that makes streaming what you want difficult and is priced higher then all...
