This is a discussion thread for the super skip-to-tick feature of the latest national release.

A little bit about this feature:

    • Use while Fast-Forwarding or Rewinding to go to the next tick mark in the progress bar
    • After skipping-to-tick, you will still be in Fast-Forward or Rewind
    • [IMG] or [IMG] will jump to the previous tick mark when Rewinding
    • [IMG] or [IMG] will jump to the next tick mark when Fast-Forwarding
    • [IMG] returns playback to PLAY mode
    • This feature is enabled for all users in this release. No additional code is required to enable it.

Note: These buttons [IMG] [IMG] do not appear on the DIRECTV remote but may appear on third party remotes.

Ok, since you suggested a discussion, can you please clarify exactly what key strokes are supposed to make it skip to the next tick? I use after market remotes and press the fast forward and hold it and nothing happens. Sometimes I press and release it and press it again and it skips to the next tick. Other times it just goes from fast foward 1 to fast forward 2.

This eliminates the need for press-and-hold to skip forward to the next tick on the bar.

    It works like this:

Press {>>} to start fast forwarding.
Then press {>>|} and you will jump to the next tick on the bar.

After you push {>>|} you will still be fast-forwarding, so push {>} to go back to play.

    The same applies to rewinding. Use {<<} and {|<<}

I hope that explains it. I know the graphic representation of the buttons is a little crude, sorry for that.

Perfect explanation! I tried it several times and it works everytime. I like the new method much better.

    About time! Thank you DTV.

Now if only they could sort out the last idiotic "press & hold" function - SLOW MOTION. Perhaps they could do something similar ? i.e. press PAUSE and then the Fast Forward or Advance button could initiate slow motion ?

I got the update last night. At the time, I didn't know about this new super skip, so I was using the old hold method. Am I crazy or does the old method still work?

That is great, now it works like my HR10. :)

Now to fix the Slow Motion implementation.
However, I'd suggest a second press of Pause to start Slow Motion.

Is there a list of all the features that were gained with the update?

    Thanks

If you like SUPERSKIPTOTICK, be sure to let DirecTV know how you feel about this Wish List request at the link below:

During FF or RW, UP/DOWN arrows should express to the START or END of a recording.

This is a user-friendly alternative to the currently unreliable PRESS&HOLD of [IMG] and [IMG], intended to do the same.
