The current web site for DirecTV says there is 85 channels with no mention of getting to 100 channels by the end of the year. Is DirecTV in the position to finish out the year with 100 HD channels? Will we get more this Wednesday and next? What channels will they be, if any? Has the fizzle run out of the hype? Please fill in the blanks for me...:D

    I don't see a mention of 100 anymore.

Besides, it was always UP TO 100. That was when they were saying over 70 by Fall.

So over 70, up to 100. 85 fits that.

(Although they could count like cable and Dish and say they have about 115.)

I never thought I would say this, but I think I now actually have enough. VOD and a few others, in time, will be nice, but I am VERY happy now. Compared to a couple of months ago, yea

More content for the broadcasters will be nice.

Ah man, you bursted my bubble. :new_puppy

You are correct, fine sir...it just doesn't ring as well as 100. 85 vs. 100 that is 15...

Up to...how about, Not Quite 100. I hope they try to hit the mark though by January 1, 2008.

Just keep my sports in HD coming. That will get me through the writer's strike.

And give me my other locals....and my neighboring locals, too.

I'm kind of there too, there are a lot of channels now it has become common. But, to be with the original hype, I would love to see those 100 channels.

    Nationally, I want:

    More HBO (yeah, 2008)
    Tennis Channel
    Boomerang (please don't stretch)
    CSTV
    More RSNs
More movies (IFC, TCM, FMC, and even AMC)
    ESPNews (that's a biggie)

That'll do me for a while.

I would like a lot more content over more channels, but again, why espnews? Sportscenter is in HD, but the highlights often are ion SD. Without all of the content in HD in the first place, what difference does HD espnews make???

Because even with 4:3 content on the highlights, it all looks better in HD.

And, ESPNews in HD means that ESPN is doing new studios, etc, with probably HD highlights.

ESPNew is now unwatchable compared to other channels.

I wish they'd add MY9 and CW11 to HD in the Metro New York City area.

What is strange to me is a lot of time they show SD highlights of a game broadcast in HD.

That's pretty much it for now.

CSTV now and more HBO in 2008.

    ESPNU in late 2008.
