What about complaining in a forum about people complaining in a forum?
Looks like the flipped the switch. Yeah!!
Darn spoke to early, one commercial was in actual HD.
I can understand it being like this for a few minutes because of a mistake, but don't they monitor their own broadcast? I mean it's been like this since late this afternoon even before hockey was on.
Wake up VS/Directv/NHL!!!
Maybe they should go "upstairs" to the war room in Toronto for a video review!
Why isn't FSN Cincinnati showing the HD feed of the Blue Jackets game? I didn't realize they were airing it so was going to watch it on Versus, blacked out and gamesearch didn't find it. Finally found it on FSN Cincy, but SD only.
I called DirecTV. As usual, they wont do anything until enough people call and complain. SO CALL THEM! They obviously aren't monitoring all online forums for problems. They'll only know if you call and complain!
Has anyone talked to someone with cable to see if they have a picture problem? I called my one buddy, but he's not home... he'll let me know in 10-15 mins. That will tell us if its a VS problem or a D* problem.
I just spoke with Versus (877) VERSUS-ON. They do know about the problem and it IS on their end.
The lady in Customer Service knew EXACTLY why I was calling.
They suspect that it's happening Nationally but they are taking info as to where you're viewing from just in case.
She said they are working on it.
Changing the aspect ratio, i.e. going to stretch or wide mode, doesn't get it to where it would be in a normal HD feed. It causes distortion the farther you get from the center of the screen. On a big screen it looks pretty bad. 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other I suppose.
I talked to DirecTV, the phone rep said he looked at it on the monitors in their office and he saw the problem too. He said they'd escalate it to broadcasting, but didn't know when it would be fixed.
Boy, their phone defense system is annoying. After I tried to explain my problem 3 times, it couldn't get it and I asked for a human, so it asked me 3 more times what the problem was before sending me on.
Well, at least the score is improving.
I have two friends on Time-Warner who confirmed that the picture is fine.
If Versus is acknowledging the problem, it must be ONLY with their uplink to DirecTV. DAMN is that frustrating.
When you call in do not say anything, do not press any buttons.
When the system asks you to manually enter your number, press 0 (zero) a few times and you will be connected to an operator.
There is no need to call DirecTV anymore, Versus has already admitted it's their problem.
I just called as well. They are aware of the problem and it has been "escalated" to the broadcast network. The rep. took my info as per software version and time zone. He said likely 24 hours for them to properly fix the issue. A lot of good that does me tonight! Oh well, maybe I'll get to see game 2 of the wings/jackets in proper HD.
By the way, I just change my TV aspect ratio from 16x9 to "wide fit" and it pretty much looks like normal. No biggy.
Channel 603 is in the wrong aspect ratio. Talk Soup was wrong before the Redwing/BlueJacket game, and the game is wrong along with the commercials.
I have checked with my friends and they are seeing Versus in HD correctly because they ARE NOT ON DIRECTV.
THIS IS A DIRECTV PROBLEM. (as usual)
CALL DIRECTV, and complain !!!!!... (as much as I hate to talk to them and go through their stupid Stupid phone system., be nice to their technicians though, because they are always kept in the dark.)
AGAIN CALL DIRECTV and COMPLAIN.
It's a simple switch on their Mpeg Encoders, (very similiar to Format button on Directv Remotes)
If I had a number to call Versus, I would call them and tell them how Directv is screwing up their shows.
It is very fustrating that their is no immediate way of contacting an actual Technical Person at Directv.
Dude. Did you ignore the last few posts? Versus themselves have stated *it's their problem*. So calm down, relax, play with your TV's aspect settings and Versus will get on it.
Many HDTVs (like mine) do not have a stretch mode for HDTV signals that are input, since HDTV signals are already 16:9. So I can't play with my aspect settings.
Second of all, I don't think any of us are here to tell the others what to do.
Where did Versus admit that it was their problem. Did they announce it on the air? Did they put a scroll up on the screen?
Or did someone just mention it on the web cause some un-informed directv technician told them.
Because I called to complain to Directv and thats what the operator told me initially too. But that is what they always do, point the finger at someone else
And changing your TV's aspect ratio setting does NOT change the quality of the source signal.
