Update.......So now I have to call back after being told on Monday I was getting ST for free. First payment 53.99 showed up on my bill. This ought to be an interesting phone call saying "I was told I was getting it free". My only hope is the CSR actually made a note on my account or I get a good CSR. Ugh!!!!

    To Be Continued......

So I just got off the phone and explained my story about getting free ST, and was billed 53.99. I ask, did the CSR make a note on my account saying I was getting it free. He looked and said "no, no note listed but I see she just didn't credit you back the 53.99 payment.
CSR, I'll do that for you right now. I ask several times will I get billed next month. "No, I will make the correction for you. I stayed on the phone until I saw the credit of 53.99 plus tax which is listed. I told him I don't want to have to call next month about this, are you sure it's on my account? Yes, sir I have made sure it is. Weird thing is the credit shows this:

    08/12/2011 XXXXXXXX7247 NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2011 - Pre-Ssn Sprt Cxl ($53.99) ($7.11)
    08/12/2011 XXXXXXXX1476 NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2011 - Charge $0.00 $0.00

Fortunately, he didn't say anything like, "well, you shouldn't be getting this free or we don't do things like this sort of stuff. The "Pre-Ssn Sprt Cxl" listing has me baffled though, I didn't cancel it. It still shows that I'm authorized for ST.

I'm still leery because others who received it free or one time credits had it posted under account activity as such. I hope this isn't a monthly battle but if need be it's worth it to get it free. Should I call back and verify that I'm getting it free, or just wait until next month and see if I'm billed?

    Any advice welcome????

This is how mine looks as well. I added it on July 9th and then canceled it on July 24. That Pre-Ssn Sprt Cxl shows to remove the first payment and then I called on August 7 and got it free. I think what happened was it was on your account as not being free, she canceled that one, and then added it back as free for the year. Does Channel 116 show you as authorized still?

This seems to imply that they can authorize Red Zone Channel only. Is there a Red Zone Channel only package available for purchase?

Yes, they can authorize Red Zone Channel only, there's actually an entire thread on here regarding that however it is not available for 'purchase'.

Yeah, it still shows authorized on ch. 116 and my account. I agree, probably wasn't on my account as free initially. I think the first CSR said it was free because the actual charge wasn't showing on my account at that time. Hopefully, its all good but will keep an eye on my bill. I'm just glad the CSR today didn't give me any hassle, and appears he corrected it.

    Thx bixler........

So you moan and groan about how much this company lies and lies and lies yet you are keeping their service and trying to get free Sunday Ticket? :nono2:

I wouldn't give you a discount either if you called me a lier.

I never said they had bad service.. and if you can get it, I can get it too.. they do have deceptive ads.. but when other posters here.. who now work for D* told that they , too , asked for deals , it opens the door for anyone.. and my money is just as green as yours..

Just got $120 off. Not the greatest deal, but then again I'm not the greatest haggler. Mentioned the free ST for new subs, wouldn't budge. Offered free 2GO, but not interested in that.

I'll take what I can get!

    Greetings.

The first call to say i'm cancelling, got me an offer of a $5/mth savings from the $53.99/mth price. I said that's not good enough. Of course got to NFL customer retention, who also initially offered a $5/mth savings. I said I've been a long time customer since 2004, and I have the premier service, give me your best shot to keep me as a customer, because if I cancel the NFL, then there's no reason to stay with direct tv....and I would sign up w/ my local cable provider.

Between haggeling with the NFL customer retention dept, and the regular customer retention dept, this is what I got:

Sunday ticket for $33.99/mth, or $203.94, a savings of $120.
Sunday to go for zero, savings of $50
$25/mth off my base price for 6 months, savings of $150
$10/mth off HD access for 24 months, savings of $240.

    Total savings of $560

It took about 45 minutes of dealing with them over 3 phone calls, so I feel I got a good deal.

Well I called today to cancel my HD Extra Pack. 3 month free trial had ended. Asked if they were going to offer any NFL ST specials this year. The guys said that yes they did have a special for current customers ( note that I have not had NFLST before). He said the special was due to the economy and the labor dispute. I said tell me what you can do.

Ended up with NFLST for $33.94/month ($20.00 off)
    Free NFL TO Go
A $10.00 additional credit for one year

    Total for NFLST is $83.99
I already have the $10 credit for HD.

You can probably go back online to account & add it for another 3 free months again.

I called today... Mine did not auto-renew (been a subscriber for 4 years) so she was very polite. Best offer she gave me was $39.99 for 4 months payment option. I went ahead and took it... No complaints here as I got half off.

    One call and done.
Not as good as some, but better than some others.

    NFL SUNDAY TICKET 2011 - $20/6mosNFLSave
    TOTAL CHOICE PLUS - $5/6mValueDisc
STARZ and SPORTS Save $5/6 Mos on STARZ
STARZ and SPORTS $10 Off SPORTS for 6 Mos

    I've had Stars/Sports for over a year.

Since I only got $120 off last year I'm happy this year.

    Kudos to Justin.
Nice, direct, no BS from me or him. One of my better phone calls to DirecTV.

We had cancelled before vthe lockout started, but were going to get it if they resolved before the season so losing the auto-renew was a given. They just called so I took what they were willing to offer. Should have lost my auto-renew discount, but kept it and they gave me $60 off that plus Starz!/Showtime free for 6 months. I'll take it. We're Starz! subs year round. So I got Sunday Ticket, our usual programing and I'm saving $32.99 for 6 months. Better than a poke in the eye.

The first time I called they said they had nothing for Sunday ticket but they gave me $10 off for 12 months for being a good customer I already have the free hd for 24 months.
Second time I called they still didn't give me anything off of Sunday ticket but they added an additional $35 off a month with various discounts to the premier package for 6 months.
Third time I called to add partial season of MLB which had no discounts available but they finally applied a Sunday ticket discount of $20 a month for 6 months.

I'm really happy with directv, would be nice if everything was cheaper but it's kind of fun to "earn" your discounts.

    Called in last night...

We have been an auto-renew for quite a while but recently moved. Our programming and billing were AFU following the move and I was pretty annoyed with the entire transition.

We were billed the full $336.95 for the ST, which my better-half already paid. I called and asked about the new customer deal and about offering it for movers (I haven't seen any deals advertised for free or discounted ST for movers).

Credited my account for the ST fee of $336 = No bill for a while!

No complaints, especially since it looks like my programming and bill is finally fixed!

Got $10 off for 6 months. I have a feeling that was because we came back to D* in December and were getting $20 off, $10 off for 6 months for sports pack, another $10 off a month for 6 months on MLB EI, and since we upgraded to Premiere a couple of months ago we are getting the 2 for 1 price for 3 or 6 months on both movie duos they were advertising.
