They used TSN maybe comcast upped the fee to use CSN Philly.

I think the MLB forces Comcast to offer CSN Philly / offer for free

Concur with all. As a west coast Flyers fan, it was frustrating to view last night's game in barely-tolerable SD (especially after 769-1 had appeared on the guide through Tuesday), a level of disappointment only exceeded by the team's third-period performance.

    Money.

It was explained by SatelliteRacer (years ago) that Comcast charges a HUGE amount of money per game for the rights to use CSN Philly for Flyers games on Center Ice. Bear in mind that Comcast owns both the channel and the Flyers, so they can get away with it. You will almost never see a Flyers broadcast on DirecTV's Center Ice, except when that feed is the only one available (and in that situation, DirecTV usually uses a feed provided by the NHL, which is a "bach haul" feed without commercials, not the final broadcast delivered to cable ops in the Philly area).

Are the Phoenix Coyotes not televising any games this year? I don't see any TV info for them, and the upcoming games on Center Ice for the Coyotes only have one feed listed (the other team's feed).

They are, but they are working on an agreement with Fox Sports Arizona. They are televising it tonight, but I wouldn't bet on them being included in NHL Center Ice until Directv is aware they are doing the games. Tonights game feed for both teams will be in center Ice. The Coyotes feed will be the furthest out do to the late addition of it.

I have both as well plus the preseason games being added this year were a nice bonus with NHL Game Center Live. It is getting to the point where the Online packages are generally more reasonable in cost and a better package than the TV counter parts especially for MLB and NHL. If It comes to the point of choosing between the two, I would drop the TV versions for the online versions in a heartbeat especially since the sd feeds are nearly unwatchable in the format they are being given.

That is good to hear, I watch their games as I am a season ticket holder for their AHL team, The Pirates.

One thing to note about the onlline feeds is that they usually do not include pre-game, intermissions or post-game shows. If all you want is the game itself then they may be the best choice for you.

I thought I would view it also through Center (Free Preview) Ice in HD. Turned over to Game Center on the Roku pronto and the HD looked so good!

I don't watch the other material. The only thing I enjoy though is the second intermission of the blackhawk games when they shoot the puck.

I know there are other mitigating factors at play, but we should all call Directv and threaten Canx so we get a discount on NHL Center Ice.. Like what every one else does when football starts and Direct gives away or discounts NFL Sunday Ticket..

Just might give it a try for giggles...

if you watch the games live gamecenter for the most part has been showing the intermissions with a few exceptions(like the pens preseason games that were backhaul feeds).

the replays do not have the intermissions and commercials.

gamecenter is heads and shoulders above the tv version of center ice it isnt even funny.
had both the csn phily and tsn feeds in hd last night

I had GameCenter last year but was annoyed at how long it would take for the replays to come up. Usually took 2-4 hours after the game was finished. This was a huge pain for me as I would get home at around 7:00 PST and want to watch one of the early games and would have to wait until later in the evening.

Has this gotten any better this season?

This is (or is supposed to be), a DirecTV programming thread. You might get a better response by asking this in the other NHL thread.

Altitude is messed up tonight. HD version is completely down, while the SD version initially had the wrong programming (from Altitude 2) but was later corrected. Meanwhile, on Comcast, both the SD and HD versions of Altitude were down at last check. This is apparently an Altitude issue, not a DirecTV issue. Since I'm in market, I cannot watch the Predators feed of the Avs/Preds game.

it is about the same. it does take some time to edit the games. all the sports packages online take about the same for replays

DIrectv has put a screen up regarding it. Having said that I'm able to receive the Avalanche feed through Dish network without a problem, this makes me wonder if it has to do with how Directv is receiving the signal from Altitude. As far as the Predators feed it is working fine on Directv.
