    TNGTony,

Do you maintain an ordered list of when markets were activated?
    (Something simpler than http://ekb.dbstalk.com/19 )
I thought about making one, but didn't want to duplicate the effort.

    Lurker,

No I don't have a simpler list than the one on page 19 of the EKB. I can make one. :D

Page 19 started off being "simple". But I kept adding more info as time went on.

    See ya

I really like some of the upadtes, like where the towers are located.

...however, I noticed on the Cincinnati DMA map, one channel seems to have much bigger writing for the call letters than the others....hmmmm

In all seriousness, I like the updates...now if Duluth just would get rid of those pesky ? marks under status and get changed to "Available" I would be real happy :)

Thanks Tony. What's wrong with the writing on the Cincinnati gif? Is it that the glaring omission by Dish network is showing? :D

Anyway, I'm working on that as I get time.

Okay...I threw together a list of the cities and the dates launched listed in alphabetical order and below that by date. http://ekb.dbstalk.com/5 or http://echostar.swiki.net/5.

    See ya

Thanks Tony. (Although Charleston probably should be 12/18/03.)

Wow, it looks like 2001 was a very slow year - and we've had 47 new locals this year?

This is the problem with having just one date on the launch status. The Charleston locals except the NBC and CBS were available yesterday between 4 and 5pm. I know the press release only came out today.

And it's interesting to see that the NBC affiliate was turned on at about 2pm and the CBS affiliate was turned on at about 5pm. The fact that WOWK was not on the press release tells me that it is most likely there was a retransmission consent issue up to the last minute.

    See ya

Nobody seems to have addressed the Travel Channel remark in the lead post. The Travel Channel has been moved to channel 215.

It's been addressed previously ( like days ago :D )

JohnH only addressed 220 being gone from the EPG ... as the fact that it moved to 215 was announced already before...

This time I'd defer to the press release as it was engineered to make Charleston the 100th market ... No biggy.

    rodb,
There are 105 uplinked markets ... the 100 released ones plus Savannah which should be #101 next week. Plus on 121º ...
    # Fort Wayne, IN
    # Green Bay, WI
    # Traverse City, MI
and still on 105º since October ...
    # South Bend, IN

In addition, December's Charlie Chat mentioned seven more by the end of January
    # Johnstown/Altoona, PA
    # Columbia-Jefferson, MO
    # Juneau, AK
    # Davenport-Moline, IA
    # Lincoln, NE
    # Grand Junction, CO
    # Tri-Cities, TV-VA

    Everything tenative, as usual. :D

Number of local channels in the system. A few not available, yet. The dups on 105 are counted in this figure.

    LOCALS COUNT PER LOCATION
    119 CONUS 16
    119 SPOTS 235
    61.5 71
    110 CONUS 57
    110 SPOTS 237
    148 65
    129 0
    121 62
    105 140

    TOTAL LOCAL CHANNELS = 883

TOTAL CHANNELS IN THE SYSTEM(all types, except DISHPlayer Trickle) = 1702

Thanks, JohnH. Looks like the locals, including dups, already account for more than half of the total number of channels.
