I have a 301E receiver and was wondering if it is compatible with the Dish 500+ in order to receive the 118.75 satellite along with 110 and 119 satellites. If yes, what switch would I need for this setup to work?

For 118W (intrl) need D500+ or D1000+ (with 129W for HD) and use DP34 or DPP44 - your 301E will works then OK.

 He said D500+ in his post for international.

Anyway, if it's an older 500+ setup then you would need a DP34, DPP33 or DPP44 switch. If it's the newer DPP 500+ LNBF than no switch is needed - it's built into the LNBF just like the 1000.2 or .4 dishes.

Also, your 301 receiver is currently being phased out, and will need to be replaced by a 311 or newer receiver at some point. It will work fine for now though.

    Thanks for the help.

Is Dishnetwork phasing out the 301 receivers and will they replace them without charge for existing customers?

Perhaps, just wait for the letter - if you'll initiate the swap, you'll be forced to pay !

If I get the new DPP 500+ setup, how many wires would I need to run to the receiver? I will only use one receiver (301) with this setup. Are any power inserters needed?

Just one coax, the DP301 will provide a power to the LNBF.

I was confused because you said it was not compatible, and then told him that he needed what he said in his original post. You did not provide misinformation, just presented it in what I thought was a confusing manner. Not trying to be a punk, just wondering why you said that. If I offended you I apologize.

When D/N sent me email they were replacing my 508 receiver, I called and ask if I could re-connect my 301 that I have in good working condition, which is stored in a closet. Dish said I could, but, it needed a new smart card, and that charge would be $60.00.

Now that I have a perfectly good 301 in a box that may be worth $10.00 to some, only good if someone wants to pay $60.00 to get is upgraded, and find later Dish will discontinue it.

But if active on an account DISH will upgrade that 301 to at least a 311 free of charge. If that 301 was active when they switched to purple cards it would have been free also.:)
