Does DTV broadcast any 3D programs? I just bought a 3D TV and would like to give it a try.

Sure do, checkout channels 103-106. Ch. 1-3 has had some Olympic events on it.

There is some 3D programming starting at channel 103 (which is part time). You will need an HD box that is higher than a 20, like an HR21.

Man, I'm sure glad you mentioned needing an HR 21 or higher......wouldn't you know that I connected to a HR20......sheesh...I think I've got a couple HR22's in the house.....one of which I'll have to swap with....thanks to all for the info.

PS What are the odds that DTV would give me an HR22 or higher DVR to replace my very old HR20-100 for my 3D viewing enjoyment?

They do that, 24 months, call and ask.

I went to the DTV Web site and hunted around to see what equipment is available to me. Since I'm such a great guy, apparently, I discovered I could get an HR24, whatever that is, for $19.50 plus tax. So, for $21.50 I'll get an upgrade and don't have to suffer through a phone call. $21.50 by comparison to a call is like free in my book......yippeeeeeee!!

When I get it I need to remember to retire the old HR20....I suppose I'll have to call to do that and mail it back.

I'm pretty sure the web site didn't promise you an HR24. If it did I'm gonna need a lottery number real soon, while your still hot.

Don't forget to make that call, Directv likes to add up all those six bucks every month.

Yeah, you're right, I just read the fine print and it shows an HR24 but says what you get may be a turd by comparison or words to that effect.....won't I feel pretty stupid if they send me another silver colored HR20.....sheesh.

I'd call in and ask about the HR34. Some have been given good deals, depending on your account history. Would be the best upgrade of all.

They might, then you have to call and explain. Nothing like a little quality time on the phone.

Hook up the HR20 to your TV and try to watch a 3D recording/program. You'll get a code on screen along with a message saying the HR20 can't do 3D. If you call DirecTV with that code they'll swap your HR20 for an HR21 or higher and I believe not add 2 years to your contract.
