i love my 501 dvr cuz its simple to use.
I have read that is quite normal for the 501 to just stop getting signal.
I know its not my antenna cuz it works on my 301.
    Any suggestions?
Any one have one i can purchase. I miss recording my shows.
I dont want the 625 it is just to much for me.
    than you

I have one of my 501's which periodically seems to lose the signal on some or all transponders and sats. I find if I unplug it (everything, including the sat cable) for a day or two and then plug it back in that it will come back alive. It's strange because i've had that receiver replaced twice now and the same thing keeps happening to it. None of my others have this issue (including another 501) and when it does occur on this particular receiver it won't work in any of the other rooms if I try moving it.

Did you try calling E*? They replaced mine for $20. Granted mine was totally broken but they may replace yours as defective.

Call and get dish home protection turned on for $5 (I think). Next day call back and have them replace it. Next month, take DHP back off if you decide it's not worth keeping it.

    thanks for advice.
just thought someone might have one laying around not using it anymore.
since 501 seems to be a thing of the past.
