During the day all the hd channels on sat(103?) espn, science channel, nat geo and so on all go out during the day.

Signal reading are all 0's and across the board. im at work and don't know what sat they are on, but all the other readings on other sats are fine.

But then they come back on usually right around 11pm. This started happening last summer ('09), then stopped for the winter, and now its doing it again.

    reboots don't do anything.

I was thinking it was the sun glaring off a stop sign, a one way sign, a car or the E* dish on my roof was causing this.

But it happens in when it is cloudy or sunny.

    thanks for any help

Sounds a bit like it could be the LNB when it get warm [failing].

$50 if you don't have their Equipment Protection Plan.

"More than likely", though sometimes you can get this waived/credited.
Really the only other option would be to have a spare LNB and swap it out yourself to see.

I'm betting on the LNB. Depending how long you've been a customer and if you've had any problems over the past year or two, they've been known to waive the service cost. Sweet talking to the CSR's help even if you get one that isn't the most helpful.

That entrely depends on A. if the rep has credits left for this week and B. if you're in good standing with D*, pay your bill on time, and havent had a large recent credit, you can talk most CSR's into crediting the service call. if not, ask for their sup or ask for customer service. (they are generally more generous wth their credits, as they have a higher weekly limit) :) Good luck!

You will just have more channels that you cannot receive:)

I had a temp sensitive LNB fail during the heat of the day, not all that uncommon.

You can probably get a new lnb for less than the cost of a service call and swap it out yourself. If it isn't the lnb, then you will have a spare, which is not a bad thing!

tech came said the dish was not fastened down properly, he tightened everything, and realigned the dish all signals in the high 90's now, said the lnb was ok, had no idea why it went out in the day can came back on at night. he also said he weather proofed the lnbs
