Turn on receiver. Hit guide button (gently). Downloading satellite info screen (with bar graph) superimposed over guide screen. Other than the bar moving, not much happens. After cancelling out of guide screen, see thru channel banners show up with correct channel number, incorrect info (in some cases PPV on a clear channel so i can't watch the programming). This last anomoly hasn't appeared since 263 so i guess most folks complained and Dish brought it back by popular demand.

Actually, that one appears on several receivers. I haven't seen it on my 811, but my 6000 and 4900 have had it from time to time. I did an unplug the power reset and it has fixed it every time.

Thanks Bobby, i'll try it when i get home. It's funny they come out with a new software version that restarts problems corrected in a previous software version???

I'm finally able to join in on the 811 version reports as my 811 was installed yesterday. So far, most everything is positive compared to the 6000. Biggest positive: NO FAN!!! Negatives? The remote is "flakey" in controlling my Toshiba 34FH81, and yeah, I suppose the picture is darker than the 6000, but then, I like it darker than most.

Since I have seen this one.. I can translate. Had it happen a few times. When you press the Guide button you get the downloading guide info screen and it keeps repeating itself. Software terms.. We have an infinite loop. This also can happen when you go to the theme.

I would also add that sometimes the guide shows no info on some of the channels that should have info. Seems that it forgets to update the guide. Though they have made the guide better, looks like there are still some bugs to work out.

I was trying to add the new CBSHD to my favorites list yesterday since they are changing the channels, but I could never get it to save. I'm going to try again today...

Just wanted to add that my 811, after taking 265, is also doing the odd remote ID thing. What is interesting is that it switched from 1 to 3 -- and 3 is what my 501 is on. I always have the 501 on 3 and I've left my 811 on 1. Sometime after getting 265, I discovered that my 801 was suddenly on receiver ID #3. And, I can't change it back to 1.

My question is: how did it switch to 3? I'm wondering if it did it because my 501 is on 3? Maybe, after the download, whatever frequency set it "sees" first, it assigns as its remote ID to be used? Otherwise, it seems like an odd coincidence that it was at 1 and had never been changed before -- and then jumped to 3 after the 265 download -- which happens to be what I use daily on my 501...

Had the same problem. Just started two days ago, even though the vr.265 has been in there for weeks. Called Dish Tech Support. He had me hold the power button for 5 secs. The reboot solved the problem. Had to do it again yesterday. Haven't turned it on this morning.

More work is needed on the EPG management. It should download during idle first off and it looks like there are some conditions that he programmers did not program for. I am sure the end result is this infinite loop. For me it has happend when bringing up EPG and Themes. In my book the biggest issues with the 811 now are.

Proper Picture calibration on all inputs. Some need some fine tuning others need major work.
    The infinite loop.
    The Aquiring Signal.

Most of my restarts have been due to the "infinite acquiring guide message box". I have also had a few lock ups so I would say the reliability is still in question.

John -- Mine did that too. Switched from 2 to 1. I was (finally) able to get it back by using an IR remote to reset it to 5, then 3, then 2. Also be sure you are following the whole resetting procedure -- you may have to hit "Record" twice.

While it is conceivable that a receiver may return to the default remote address #1 after a SW download (as it evidently did for chenrikson) it's not going to pick a different address on it's own. I think someone must have accidently changed it while using the 501 UHF remote.

With mutiple UHF recievers this is easy to happen. Probably the best way to make sure it doesn't is to use the front panel "SYSTEM INFO" buttons to get to the System Information screen.

Well, based on the fact that several people are having Receiver ID changing issues since P265 -- and that fact that I can't change it to anything else right now -- it seems likely that this is much more than just a "you accidentally changed your own ID" situation.

If we didn't see this other behavior, I would agree with you -- but it is too big a coincidence that other people are also having their 811 lock at a receiver ID after getting P265 to all be user error...

One of my main beefs with the 811 is the inability to receive all of the offair HDTV channels in my area. I am able to receive 2-1 but not 2-2, 6-1 and 6-2 but not 6-3 etc. The DTV receivers do not have this problem. Go figure

Hey, here's my first 811 w/265 bug report:
I was in the Dish Point screen and I noticed I wasn't getting the tone. I tried another xponder and the tone sounded. As I cycled through different satellites and transponders, the tone would cut in and out. Well, nothing to write home about, but after I canceled out to watch King of Queens, there was no audio, but I found my missing aiming tone! I tried other channels and each one had the tone. I fixed it by turning off the 811 via the remote and turning it back on.

Also, I notice the clock on the 811 seems to loose time when you're watching OTA digital. I wonder if this is related to the EPG issues (acquiring guide) after watching ATSC stations?

That was the first thing I noticed after the download, as I needed to do a check switch to regain 148. (And a number of times since then.) I keep forgetting to post it!

I can also confirm the "check switch" problem still exists in my setup.(DP21 connecting a Dish 500 and a Dish 300 pointed at 61.5) Just today it could not find 119, but 61.5 and 110 were OK. Check switch fixed it as usual.

The change in 265 is that now it tells you to do a check switch where you had to figure that out for yourself in previous versions.

I agree. I noticed my DVI was darker and thought it was just me. I have not been watching a lot of TV lately, but I did notice the darkness. This happens for me on SD, HD, and OTA.
