Before moving I had Direct TV, but received a Bundle Package Offer from Dish Network that offered all three services, Dish, Internet, and Phone with unlimited long distance. It offered a $39.99 credit for the first twelve months for your Dish Service. I signed up for it and had it installed upon my move. Then I got my first bill, and so the night mare begun. Instead of being billed the $152.00 a month as explained to me (have it all in writing including the phone rep, ID and confirmation number) I was bulled approx. $240.00 Every month since August 2008 I have had to spend a day on the phone arguing and being transferred and waiting and waiting, only to finally speak with a supervisor who makes a promise to change amounts in my forthcoming bill, that never happens or if it does, in a very partial way. It is now Feb. 20th, 2009. I just got off the phone with a “Dish” supervisor, and this is what she said. “I’m sorry there is nothing that we can do for you, you apparently went on line and checked off that you wanted a $50 rebate instead of the $39.99 credit each month.” I told her I never did any such thing, and why would anyone in their right mind do such a thing. Then she said, “Well we sent you out a $50 rebate check and you cashed it.” I told her, yes I got a check, however as far as I knew it was money sent to me because of my overpayment to you. Then, she said, “Well, I’m sorry. By you cashing that check we sent you, you gave up your $39.99 a month credit.” I told her, I looked at that check and nowhere on the check did it say any such a thing. Her answer, was, I’m sorry, there was nothing they could do, when I cashed the check I rescinded from the original offer made to me by Dish. So for any of you out there considering between Dish Network and Direct TV, please consider the above practices. I realize no large company today plays fair, and will take advantage of the consumer at every chance, given the opportunity. But this one takes the cake for me. And for the record. It is my opinion that Direct TV has better service. My television didn’t lose signal every time we had a moderate rainfall with Direct TV. It also didn’t lose the signal and have to be re-booted so often. I have never ever written a letter like this before, so obviously I think it is important. Other's may have different experience. I don’t know. Just wanted you to know mine. I feel the need to speak and to stand up and say “enough”.
