Before moving I had Direct TV, but received a Bundle Package Offer from Dish Network that offered all three services, Dish, Internet, and Phone with unlimited long distance. It offered a $39.99 credit for the first twelve months for your Dish Service. I signed up for it and had it installed upon my move. Then I got my first bill, and so the night mare begun.

Instead of being billed the $152.00 a month as explained to me (have it all in writing including the phone rep, ID and confirmation number) I was bulled approx. $240.00 Every month since August 2008 I have had to spend a day on the phone arguing and being transferred and waiting and waiting, only to finally speak with a supervisor who makes a promise to change amounts in my forthcoming bill, that never happens or if it does, in a very partial way.

It is now Feb. 20th, 2009. I just got off the phone with a “Dish” supervisor, and this is what she said. “I’m sorry there is nothing that we can do for you, you apparently went on line and checked off that you wanted a $50 rebate instead of the $39.99 credit each month.” I told her I never did any such thing, and why would anyone in their right mind do such a thing. Then she said, “Well we sent you out a $50 rebate check and you cashed it.” I told her, yes I got a check, however as far as I knew it was money sent to me because of my overpayment to you.

Then, she said, “Well, I’m sorry. By you cashing that check we sent you, you gave up your $39.99 a month credit.” I told her, I looked at that check and nowhere on the check did it say any such a thing. Her answer, was, I’m sorry, there was nothing they could do, when I cashed the check I rescinded from the original offer made to me by Dish.

So for any of you out there considering between Dish Network and Direct TV, please consider the above practices. I realize no large company today plays fair, and will take advantage of the consumer at every chance, given the opportunity. But this one takes the cake for me. And for the record. It is my opinion that Direct TV has better service. My television didn’t lose signal every time we had a moderate rainfall with Direct TV. It also didn’t lose the signal and have to be re-booted so often. I have never ever written a letter like this before, so obviously I think it is important. Other's may have different experience. I don’t know. Just wanted you to know mine. I feel the need to speak and to stand up and say “enough”.

Personally, I'll stick with Dish. Never had the signal going out when it rains or snows, and they have always treated me fairly.
    But thanks for your opinion.

I have had signal loss with both direct and dish and I have had the most rock solid reception from both. It all depends on your installer and how much time they spend getting those dishes aligned perfectly.

I have had good and bad receivers from both as well.

I just came back to dish and get a excellent reception and a very stable receiver(722). The receiver and HD only packages pretty sealed the deal for me.

I don't think Dish has bundles, except Wildblue which like 56k. Try Verizon or U-verse depending your area. U-verse Internet which I have is good, but their TV service is HORRID!

Yes, the bundle was in conjunction with AT&T. Telephone and internet with AT&T, and Tv with Dish.

So, was not your contract with AT&T?

Then the 'rebate' and 'check' would have been from AT&T, not Dish Network. Contacting Dish Network would be a waste of your time in this situation. it'd need to be dealt with only by AT&T. Get ahold of someone with AT&T, and do NOT let them transfer you to a Dish rep. It'd be more of a waste of your time.

It has been AT&T I have spoken to every month since August. They make a promise to make an adjustment and next month comes, and no adjustment. This last time speaking with them, they said that it was not an issue with AT&T, that I needed to speak with Dish. When I spoke to Dish, I got the reply as stated in my initial post.

If you want to stick with dish, I would sugest getting rid of the bundle package with AT&T. Everybody that comes in here with that thing seems to have problems with it.
