Yeah, I've never had that happen as of yet.

It happened with Sleepy Hollow as late as a week or so ago...said I wasnt authorized for that station as it was trying to setup the recording on the DNS FOX station.

I haven't had much luck using smart search for far in advanced shows. I had two for this month and it just has the show listed to be recorded at 12am on the day it starts, along with the network. I can only see that by going to series manager and view upcoming.

So I remember those two ahead of time and set it up which I then had two listed in the series manager and just deleted the one that I had set with search. Since this isn't the first time its happen, it doesn't work very well for me.

Well I haven't looked but I'd bet I doesn't slot the regular series off of the fia setting until just about when the show starts.

If you use the "Series Premiere (Coming Soon)" listing it doesn't try to use a specific channel until an episode of that show appears in the guide data. I just used used that option and it hasn't tried to setup anything on a specific channel yet even with the 6 minute preview on 8/11 showing up.

It seems unreliable. A few weeks ago I chose the Coming Soon for AMC's "The Pitch" Right now if I View Upcoming on that I can see a dozen VODs then I can see the actual season premiere on Aug 15. That episode is NOT YET scheduled to record. The tester in me wants to wait and see if that episode gets selected automatically, but the TV watcher in me want to go ahead and select it for Record Series. For now, I'll test :)

Just wait, it will work. I've seen the "Far in advance" deal take up to the day before to kick in, but it does kick in.

"The Pitch" is still not in my To Do list. It premieres tonight at 11pm. Series Manager - The Pitch has a (0) next to it, but View Upcoming reveals the orange series record on the first listing which is the place holder and it says Today - 12:00 am.

    I'll still wait and see.

Just out of curiosity, what network is "The Pitch" on?

My Far in Advance selections that are networks, NEVER record on my local networks. They always default to the distants and then don't record for me. This is on an HR44.

Not only that - but it doesn't find everything. I still have not found Cracked - set to premier 30 Aug on Reelz.

No luck. My "Have Faith" experiment failed with this new AMC show. It never showed up in the to-do list and did not record at 11pm. I went in at 11:05 and set up the series manually. Other than with the Record Series symbol appearing next to the place-holder in Series Manager, nothing else happened. I know others have said its worked, and I think I remember it working for me on some summer series, but I guess it gets chalked up as 'unreliable'

I'm very surprised. I've only had one Far In Advance setup fail and that was back when we first got the feature.

The only ones I've had fail have been on local networks, because it keeps trying to record on the Distant Networks that I dont have because I have my HD LiL's. All the regular channels have worked fine unless it was one of those shows that is not first run in this country
