Since the digital broadcast change, there are more local channels now, if you have over the air and a converter box, than before.

When do these new channels show up on Direct TV?

I listened to all those "You don't need to do anything", and didn't get a converter box. Now I find that I'm missing new stations.

The "you don't need to do anything" ads were talking about keeping your existing local channels when they switched from analog to digital. The digital subchannels are a different situation.

Some of the digital subchannels have been picked up in some areas, but most have not been launched. In fact, I don't think (but I could be wrong) that the must-carry rules apply to digital sub-channels.

Must carry rules don't apply... and if any of your major network affiliates are using sub channels, you should be screaming at them! Where do you think the bandwidth comes from for those sub channels?

Be grateful, If DirecTV was forced to carry all of the sub channels they would need an entire new fleet of satellites.

In my local market, Directv has 2 sub channels available on the satellite.

    WNCT-DT2 The CW 9.2 (directv ch 15)

    WUNC-DT2 UNC KD 25.2 (directv ch 25.2)

However since I have HD, I pull in the additional local sub channels via over the air tuner and is integrated into the guide.

Heres the channels I pull in over the air and can view thru the directv systems over the air tuner.

That's impressive! You get 14 ota stations, but according to antennaweb.org, you should get only two!
