Okay... I've been waiting all day to try this...

What are the problems with the searches for those two?
I just tried the search for TITLE->Pus (when I enter the S, Pushing Daisies appears on the right)

Then I tried: Title->Fri (when I enter the I, Friday Night Lights shows up on the rights)

So I am not sure what the problem is there.

Yes I find both these two, exactly same way you did. And a folder for each. Still No Jennifer under Person though.

The "folder" is part of the latest CE version of the software.

yes and a great feature it is. I wonder if the OP has the CE, if not, maybe thats making a difference in the search? Seems unlikely but possible I guess

Im mad because this is the 2nd week in a row that Ive tried to record Prison Break and Chuck at the same time, and I checked the recordings about 2 minutes in to both and their both blank despite the channels coming in perfectly clear live. I didnt have anything from last night record blanks, but it happened to me last weekend as well.

I checked two different boxes.... and also the H21... I don't think the CE made a difference in the search, but possible.

So... on the same box... you were able to tune in the channels... while they were recording... And they were fine?

But when you playback the recording, they are blank....

Do you get an error message? Do you get an instant delete message?
What does the progress bar look like?

    What happens if you FF?
    What happens if you RW?

What model HR20 do you have?
What software version do you have on your HR20?

    Are you using an eSATA?

I just realized I missed How I Met Your Mother due to an Error Code #3 cancelled message in my History folder.

    anyone know what that is?

    first time for that error.

My set up includes one HR20-700 and one HD Tivo Series 3. I use the Tivo for over the air broadcasts and the HR20 for HD from Directv on non-local channels. The Tivo never fails. HR20, well, it's pretty good but has a ways to go before I consider it as reliable as Tivo.

It seems like a lot of people are complaining about missed recordings from local channels. In many cases local channels can be received for free with a TV antenna. I have a small antenna in my garage attic and never lose the signal. This is nice during very bad weather when the HR20 is searching for signal. Admittedly loss of signal is very rare, I installed the dish myself and most transponders are in the mid 90s, including those on 103b and 99b.

My point is that now that HD Tivo can be had for less than $300 and a three year service agreement is $300 (which averages out to $8.33 per month), you do have options for a reliable alternative to the HR20 at a fairly modest cost. I enjoy DirecTV for the national channels like HBO, Showtime HDNET and the new HD channels. However, since most of what I watch still comes from the 4 major networks on local channels, and HD Tivo is so cheap, I have it, use it and don't worry about missing my favorite shows.

    It's something to consider....

I'll second that. I've had two Tivo S3's running for 6 months. One of them has 29 season passes, and the other has 17. Neither of them ever missed a recording or needed to be rebooted during that entire time. I'm very impressed with them.

Person search goes by "LastName, FirstName" so you would enter "ANISTON" (who shows up on my HR20, and even matches "Derailed" coming up on ch 523 9:10a MDT). If you're entering "JENNIFER" then you aren't going to find her.

Sorry for not quoting but it would be too much..

So... on the same box... you were able to tune in the channels... while they were recording... And they were fine? I was able to watch Prison Break live. In the middle of Prison Break durring a commercial I tried to catch a second or two of Chuck via the recording and it was blank, but when I went to change the actual channel to NBC it was on. Same thing in reverse for Prison Break. I also learned from last week that if Im watching a show live as its recording and I cant pause/rr/ff in the show as its recording then the recording is going to be corrupted/blank.

But when you playback the recording, they are blank....See above. Both recordings were blank

Do you get an error message? Do you get an instant delete message? Its just a blank screen, no prompts to delete or anything

What does the progress bar look like? It just sat there stuck at 0:00

What happens if you FF? Nothing
What happens if you RW? Nothing

What model HR20 do you have? HR20-100
What software version do you have on your HR20? Ox18a

Are you using an eSATA? No

My answers in bold. I didnt have time to do a reset or test anything last night before the recordings since I barely got home by 8. I did a reset right after Prison Break was finished and I was able to catch the last 50+ minutes of K-Ville and all of Journeyman on FOX/NBC last night. But this is the 2nd straight week that its done this, and the previous week I had blank recordings for the whole weekend off of FOX (88) mostly Sundays Animation shows . This time around, the recordings were all "delete now" instead of blank screens so they showed up fine after I restarted. Everything I recorded off of FOX and NBC between last monday night and last night was fine (Bionic Woman, MNIE, several FOX shows). IVe given up on Chuck unless I watch eps online because I hate trying to get into shows after missing the first couple of eps, but I'll let it record and see what happens next Monday.

This is happening to my father as well. HR20-100. He is getting all kind of blank recordings and is not happy with me (i pushed him to upgrade). I have the 700 and not having any issues at all. His issuses last week were NCIS and Boston Legal. Just recorded a black screen. Hit play and it asked if wanted to delete.

I have two problems going on right now with my HR20-100 and they are probably not both my machines fault. First, on NBC the guide keeps switching at times from the proper program listing to "Upcoming: Inside Edition" for the entire day. I have manually had to begin recording a couple of times because it has still been showing this during primetime. Most of the time it switches back before primetime but certainly leaves you a little on edge if you want to definately catch something. I am using OTA for my locals.

The second is Starz Kids and Family HD doesn't show up on any searches so I have to scan ahead on the programming guide to set up a recording. A fairly big nuisance if you want to record something not coming on for a week or so.

My weekends are the time for watching TV and this time of year I like to try all the new shows a couple of times. I update my to do list on Sunday afternoon.

In the case of both shows, they did not appear in my search on Sunday afternoon, and they didn't appear the previous Sunday. They did appear in the HR10 search.

Because I was having so many reception problems prior to Sunday it might be possible that the HR20 did not pick up the guide data while the HR10 found it OTA.

I'll try to remember this evening to try the search again, and let you know the results.

I have my own similar thread here http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=100545

I loved the HR20 until the season started and then found out that it simply doesn't work as a DVR. They have tons of 'stickys" telling how "great" the HR20 is, they need at least one sticky telling the TRUTH. It is not reliable if you intend to actually use it to time-shift. If you are there parked in front of the TV when your show comes on to correct the problems like apparently many peope with HR20's are then its not so bad.

Last night my HR20 decided to record Heroes on a channel I don't get. This is the same problem I've had since day 1 (Nov 2006).

I don't understand why this hasn't been fixed. All that has to be done is fix the "Channels I receive" bug (which has been since day 0) and filter against that.

This shouldn't take a year plus to fix.

DTV may not like it, but the results indicate they just don't care.

It sound like you may have setup the recording incorrectly (especially knowing there is a CIR issue). I setup the SL for Heroes on my local NBC station by using the guide and it recorded just fine. I'm not saying that this is how you should have to do it, just that when you know there are bugs you should use the knows workarounds.

No, it was set up properly. It recorded the rerun of last season's final episode and then this season's first episode, THEN it decided to record NBCE (which I don't get) instead.

I have a couple workarounds for the bug. Move the DirecTivo from the bedroom back into the home theater or cancel DTV and get Comcast and a HD Tivo. If I wasn't locked into a 2 year contract I would be doing the latter.

That is definitely odd. I didn't even thing it was possible for a SL to record a different channel than it was setup for. :nono2: :eek2: :(
