The TMZ report made it pretty clear (to me) that nothing was completely finalized yet. The "who's on" segment where the Judges pick the finalist for the live show cranks up the first week of September, so worst case we're a month out from knowing as I think it would be hard to keep that a secret at that point.

As it is, it almost seems like it's a (nearly) done deal as there has been very little evidence to dispute what has leaked.

    Peachtree...
Personally, I like the upcoming changes. In my opinion, the extent of Ellen's musical background is singing that of singing in the shower and did not add a thing tot he show.

I don't know anything about Kara (other then she does have a connection in the music industry) but again do not feel like she added much to the show. I was never a fan of having 4 judges and for the most part gave up watching the show during that 8th season.

I would not object to producers dumping Randy Jackson as well. In all the years that I watched it, I always felt like he was riding on Simon's shirt tails the whole time.

J-Lo, I see her as being a replacement for Paula Abdul. I don't see her as being rough on the contestants and not wanting hut someones feelings.

    From Wiki:
Kara certainly had legitimacy with respect to her background. I don't think anyone ever really questioned that. J.Lo. might be a decent replacement on the panel, but I'm not sold on Tyler yet. After watching the Apprentice earlier this year, I could DEFINITELY see Bret Michaels in the chair, though. However, it looks as if he's out at this point.

Bret Michaels is back on the road. He's playing Octoberfest in La Crosse in a couple of months.

Of course, given the choice of being an American Idol judge or playing a beer hall in Wisconsin...

I bet the problem is insurance. Given his recent health history, I'd be surprised if they could get insurance on him, and the entertainment industry won't go forward without insurance on their stars performing.
