I've been a VERY good customer since 1997. I just got my gift card - 3 months of The Outdoor Channel. This may be the highlight of the decade for me - (not!)

This marks the second year in a row I've sent them a complaint about their anniversary gift program. This year marks my 15th year of DirecTV. They gave me 3 free months of Choice Plus (or whatever Encore is called). They started it on September 20, and didn't send me a card about it until 5 WEEKS later.

Last year it was a free PPV movie that I had to fight to redeem, as I somehow passed the no-strings-attached offer's mystery expiration date, again weeks earlier that I expected it to expire.

I have the Loyal Viewer box checked and haven't received an anniversary gift for about three years. The last one I got I didn't find out about it until after a month had passed.

I got Sunday Ticket free for this season. Prior to that it'd been all 3-months of Showtime, etc. Not that I'm complaining!

I think we all know that free NFLST is not an anniversary gift.

I hit 10 years this summer. I have learned that when you have Premier, there are only three things they can offer (from their list). Free Game Lounge, Free PPV, or a $5/mo credit. In my 10 years this is the first time I have ever gotten the $5 credit. Almost ALWAYS free Game Lounge.

This is by first post. I have been with D* since 11/1994 with a account number 180XXX. I had to wait for 2 months before my purchase of a receiver and a dish for about $1000 was deliver to PC Richardin . I have been a loyal customer and have received "Loyalty Rewards" for years. The current dispute with Fox has been settled. Since I now live in New Jersey and have Cablevision for Internet an basic cable since 1976. I have been trough Blackouts with Fox and other provides and I think its time for the CONSUMERS to have a say. If we say no to the increase and FOX losses 19 Million customers so it be it!

Well, sometimes what we "all know" is wrong. I just got free NFLST for the rest of the season as an anniversary gift.

Very strange. I just logged on to my account and my account profile doesn't show "Loyal Viewer" to check. It only has "Email Alerts", DirecTv Newsletters" and "Movie Guide". Maybe that's why I've never gotten an anniversary gift the last 7 years??

Wow!! That's a huge disparity in the associated costs of the anniversary gifts!! I would have expected the relative cost of the gifts to be more equal unless there is a huge difference in what the customer's monthly subscription costs are.

Just checked my account and I could get 3 months of Choice Ultimate. I emailed them to ask for $5 credit instead as 10 more movie channels doesn't interest me. Yeah, I could have called, but why bother a CSR and probably be put on hold? It will be interesting what happens.

Since I registered my complaint at directv.com/thanks, I received an email reminder about my gift, and a snail mail reminder about it. It's too bad they couldn't apply the same level of effort to notifying customers of their gift before they start the expiration clock ticking. This is the part that irritates me most-- not the worthless nature of most gift selections, but the barely-half-assed way they go about it.

I would say it's at least three-quarters-assed. Even if you don't get an email, if you log into your account to pay your bill, you'll see a graphic informing you that you have a gift. I understand that if you're on auto-pay, you might not log into your account for months. One more reason to avoid automatic billing processes whenever possible.

Well, that email I sent worked.

I will now get a $5 credit on the next three billing cycles.

BTW, I never did get a notice of the gift in the first place even though I have the Loyal Customer box checked.
