I couldn't care less what Dish has.
Never had it - never will.

As for "disappointment" - ask me in the middle of November.
Maybe by then if some of the promised/expected channels haven't rolled, I'll be disappointed. But until then - no - very happy with what's available and the PQ.

No disappointment at all. I can actually use the HD Channels filter for the Guide and have a good selection of programming. Now I just need to find the time to watch more TV....

I'm not disappointed, but I thought D* might add 4 extra HD channels this week to finally pass E*'s (special math) count of 48.

    :)

I'm sorry--not trying to be a jerk, but I just can't get disappointed about improved picture quality.

The only disapointment here is that my DMA (#42) still has no HD Locals. :(

the only dissapointment I have is why the food channel in HD wasn't mirrored.
    to the SD channel number.

Because Food HD is not a simulcast of it's SD counterpart. It's an entirely different channel with a different schedule.

Has anyone heard any reports if the new FSN HD switching facility in Houston has come on line yet? It was planned for late this year but I haven't seen anything in the trades to confirm the progress or lack-thereof.

From the press release in November 2006 this was supposed to be what allowed FSN to do a lot more things in HD.

90% of the most important channels for me are already in HD. So yes I am really happy and satisfied.

    Agree.

Also, this E* math is silly. The E* total includes HD PPV and VOOM. 20+ channels that D* has instead real network programing. Just marketing gamesmanship.

This is my general feeling in regards to the HD rollout too. There are plenty of channels coming,it's just going to take some time to get it done.Everyone is going to be different in some shape, form or fashion. An old saying that comes to mind in this situation is,"One mans trash is another mans treasure",meaning to me that some people are going to love certain channels, while other people will loathe the same channels, and vice versa.Besides,I would imagine that there are several contract issues that have yet to be finalized with some of the future channels.

I took a quick look at CNBC this AM, and I was pleased with the creative use of the 16x9 layout.

I've been waiting for the broadcast nets, ESPN, et al, to do something similar with the extra space. Right now, they're just centering the action and providing a wider vista, but not giving us anything additional (beyond a beautiful picture, of course).

For example, hockey casts could show the lines & defense pairs on ice at all times, or at least flash it when the lines change. Baseball could show more stats & leave them up, similar to what mlb.com gameday does.

There's a lot that can be done, but I haven't seen much thinking outside the box on HD sports.

Me too. Anything they add from here on out I probably won't even notice unless I go looking for it.

I'm not disappointed with what has been released so far. I won't watch some of the channels, but I'm still glad that they are there. I wish that Food Network HD was a simulcast of the SD channel instead of different programming, but I have a feeling that will change as they add more HD programming. Other than that, it has been a great few weeks and I look forward to see what is coming around the bend.

I'm a little disappointed that FSN Detroit didn't show up today seeing the Red Wings are on tonite, but I keep thinking CNBC, Bravo, 2008 Olympics and I'm good. Really good!!

My TiVo box still has some winter olympics on it believe it or not. That's what big h/d's are for.

Hey, I like it and expected some weeks to be only 4. At this pace we'll get between 4 or 5 a week until January 1st.

    MGM Looks very cool...
