Title says it all. Trying to figure out who the HSP would call to subcontract my install. Mastec used to do the installs in the area. Not sure if they do anymore.

    Thanks in advance.

    OK J! I mean Ray,

My hint about the sat sub works this way. The ad I found over on the CablBar is an HSP ( or ASP..alternate service provider) trying to recruit installers.
There is a chance the guy who will be sent to do your install doesn't work for the company yet.

In spite of many good reasons for planning and routing installs a few days in advance, the HSPs receive and route techs each day so good luck trying to anticipate anything they might do.

Also, most HSPs try not to take incoming calls from installation customers.
They have their plate full with getting a warm body out the door with correct equipment. Think firehouse management.

    Good luck Ray J.

Joe, thanks for the guidance. It's been quite to eye opening experience to see how this stuff REALLY works. I think I like it better when I was ignorant to the process :)

I'm just going to wait for the install to take place and be thankful if it goes smoothly. I was reading up on 3D today and realize you have to have a HD box newer than the HR20 so I sure hope they bring one that is compatible. To I dare call D* back to have them tell the install company that my box needs to be 3D compatible? Or is it better to wait and if I get a HR20 unit call D* and have them just send me a proper box?

    Hey Ray,

There you you go again trying to apply common sense. Doesn't always work with this stuff.

I think you can assume they will bring something newer than an HR20. Directv is pretty good about matching equipment to what has been ordered.

The goofy part is that they may well send a tech without equipment to tell you they have no equipment. You may get a recorded message announcing your installation date or announcing your installation date has been changed. You may get a call from the installer.

The only thing you can do is wait until you are contacted...which may be a knock on the door by the installer....and confirm by restating what you expect from the installation. Make sure it all works before the installer leaves.

The bright side of all this is that most installations go in as planned. The irregular ones (tech drank my booze and screwed the cat etc.) end up on sites like this one.

    Enjoy the ride!

One of the new sups got back to me - we do cover Cary.....he's not certain of the zips though - however - if you have 2 weeks remaining, I can get a definite answer by Thursday - not going to the warehouse in am because of the event at RBC center.

    Check your PM's

My wife's practice is down off Wade and she had no idea about the traffic that would ensue 3 years ago when that seminar was at the RBC center last time. She was 2 hours late! Talk about some pissed off patients. This year, she took a different route today. TO THOSE IN THE AREA......STAY CLEAR OF RBC TODAY!!!

Got your PM and replied. Thanks!!!

Yeah, I took a roundabout route to work today. I work on Glenwood, near Ebenezer Church Rd., so my daily commute usually takes me smack dab past the RBC Center.

Dunno how many subs and independents are there, we should be the only HSP.

Hoping the equipment supply catches up - 2 weeks ago we were smack out of H24's......now we're out of HR24's - - I have 2 H24's and 2 HR20-100's on the van right now.
