Got home and when I brought the HR21 out of standby, it was completing "step 2 of 2". 105 d/l began at 5:51pm CDT (per history) and ended at 6:06pm per info screen.

Well, I left for a while since I last posted and put the system in standby. Checking it now I see it is at 105 as of 6:06 central. History says it started at 5:51. Guess I'm ready to go for tonight's push. :D

Well, my History now shows three "successful" downloads and the box just asked for permission again.

So again, what should I do? Tom? Earl? . . . Bueller? Anyone? Bueller?

My guess is that the download completed and the HR21 can't reboot itself, part of that problem still with it not responding to a menu reset, and you should be ok to reboot it manually.

Well, as reported in the Issues thread, I just tried a full System Test and fail the internet and networking tests, though Media Share is working fine. How weird is that?

As for those "downloads" in my History - I think that is merely whatever DirecTV sends that's equivalent to "Please reboot NOW and 0 - 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 while you're at it!" - e.g., "the push." Since my box is not responding to the software command to reset, nothing will happen until I RBR.

Unless all of this is connected to network weirdness. I might pull the network cable and then go into Setup and tell it to reset networking defaults (which will clear the IP and subnet settings, etc.). In fact, I'll do that now.

Got 104 @ 0116 eastern according to the info screen.

Brought the box out of standby around 1900 today.

It had the "download popup" on screen.

    Told it ok.

    It just sat there.

The 21 is either female or has the personality of a 2 year old. It just does whatever it wants to do, despite what is being told.

Last night when mine downloaded 104 it failed the Internet Connection test but passed the Network Connection. I couldn't get it to pass for Internet no matter what I did.

Not sure how the network and reboot issues could be related but hey, anything is possible I guess. :)

Well, after pulling the network cable and resetting my network settings, I just got another request to download, said yes and nothing happened.

FWIW, we have "Bones" scheduled to record in about 8 more minutes - don't know if that matters or not, since nothing else has been recording for about three hours.

Just saw this thread - ran up and checked the HR21. Turned on TV just to see the "Download Now / Download Later" on-screen prompt disappear. It looks like I missed the opportunity to force the download by answering "NOW", because now it's just on live TV and there's no indication it's attempting to download anything ...

I don't think "second pushout" is accurate - mine's been "successfully" downloading for hours but refuses to actually reboot and actually download. The push has been going on all afternoon I think.

Ok, I got mine while in standby. But, I got home at 7:30pm cst and tried to turn the receiver on and it was locked up. Would not power up or respond to any button on the remote or front of the receiver. I tried a rbr and it would not respond. I could hear it reset but the receiver wouldn't do anything. So, I unplugged it for about 15 sec and plugged it back it and that worked.

After the reboot I checked and it says I got the update when I rebooted the receiver at 7:37pm cst. I check the history and it says: Software dowloaded at 5:51pm cst received.

You might want to read the first post from Earl - there was first going to be this "renumbered" version of 0104 - now 0105 pushed out, and later, another new version "later tonight". Drew hasn't gotten the first one yet.

Got home turned HR21 and TV on; blue power light lit; but circle was not on.

TV was grey. Hit RBR and HR21 rebooted and said 0x105 downloaded at 7:13; which was when I hit RBR.
