Just wondering if any of you are using anything besides the remote that came with it. Has anyone used a Harmony? Are you using the H20 settings?

I'm using the RC 24 for the RF function.

I'm actually using a standard remote from a d10 right now. I'm hoping to use the 64 where I have need for all the extra codes.

    Cheers,
    Tom

I'm using the regular remote for right now. I'm working my way over to the harmony.

I am using AV1 on my RC24 remote that came with my HR20. I have them hooked up to the same TV.

So it sounds to me like the IR/RF is almost identical as its older brother. HDTVsportsfan, let me know how the transition works for you. My guess is that you can use the H20 code for the H21 but I wanted to make sure.

I took the remote that came with my H20 and followed the on screen instructions to set it up for RF with the H21.
I think this pretty much nails it for you.

I'm using the HR20 remote, the RC24 and just using electrical tape to block the signal. :D

    Why?
And if you must be a geek, why aren't you using duct tape?

I used the stock remote for a day then programmed it into my MX-700.

Being an electrician I have the stuff laying everywhere and it's free! :D I use duct tape for when I play hockey to keep my socks up. ;)

I tried the remote that came with it but was having too much key bounce so I switched to a RC32RF in RF mode, still have excessive key bounce.

I'm using the stock remote that came with it in IR mode only. Keybounce was initially pretty bad. The first software revision eliminated the vast majority of the problem. I still see some occasionally. (I have not evaluated last night's push yet). More to follow.

I have a harmony 670 and I love it! I can program bottons to use the 30 skip function and get it do what I want it to do. Basically this is a fully programmable remote. This remote seems more responsive and would work at better angles (I watch TV in my main room from a desk) than my RC23. For RF (the 670 is only IR but I don't need RF) go for the Harmony 890. Good luck!

Harmony 880 which is programmed to control HR20 works just fine to control H21!

Started original with the Remote from the SAT-GO...
Then I got the code for the TV programming of the SAT-GO, so now I am using the RC64...

I probably later this week, may switch back to the RC32BB (Big Button)...

RC32RF since the supplied remote doesn't support RF. Where I have my H21 mounted I need RF 80% of the time. It really should come with an RF remote like the H20 did...

If D*'s purpose for the H21 is the low cost entry box I can see why they'd want to go with a cheaper remote. Heck, probably the vast majority don't even know that it can do RF. What they could do is when ordering a H21 offer an option for $5, or something, to get an RF/IR vs. an IR remote with the box for folks that really need one. At least they're being nice and supplying HMDI and component cables, with my $600 PS3 all you get is a composite cable.
